Currently I have needing to frame several military coins. I have seen other framers use clips to easily secure the coin on top of the mat board. Does anyone have an idea of where to purchase these from? I'm also looking for clips to secure a dish inside of a shadow box! Any ideas??? My endless searching online is coming up short!! I appreciate ANY input!! Thank you! ;)

The plastic mounts disintegrate over time and the items drop loose. Jim Miller can give you assistance with formed rod mounts and mylar wraps. Look him up in the member directory and send him a Private Message.

If you have a CMC it is relatively easy to sandwich the coins between two circular holes cut into facing mats. Face the bevels toward each other and they will hold the coin securely. Of course this will put the coins level with the mats and if you don't like that look then formed rod mounts are a good alternative.

What about putting the coins in dedicated containers from a coin shop,

and then cutting regular mat openings for those with sink mounts below?
No need to reinvent the wheel.

I agree with what has been already said ... that there are many ways in which the coins / dish can be mounted without the use of proprietary 'clips' ... but to answer the Sheena's question about 'clips' and where to buy them ... they are called Mighty Mounts ... and are available from most framing distributors.

I rarely if ever use Mighty Mounts, favoring other techniques, but nonetheless they remain an option.

Item #3265 may work. You can view it on our website...Unitedmfrs.com. For the plate use item #3311.

A shaped melinex mount (what I call a 'spider' ....... but with only 4 legs) would be least conspicuous, very cheap and, when you know how, very simple. As for the dish, formed rods would work and depending on how big/heavy/deep it is you could even use one of these plate hangers.

I'll ditto on the Melinex 'spider mount' for mounting the coins. I just finished a military shadowbox that included two Canadian quarters and a nickel, which I mounted with Melinex on top of the suede matboard. It provides an almost invisible, and completely reversible mounting method.

As for the dish, I also agree that formed rod mounts would be the way go.
