Looking for a moulding to harmonize with this mirror ... the artwork is about 50" x 50" so the moulding needs to be big enough. Appreciate any suggestions.

Is there any way you could post a pic of the artwork,
or is it copyrighted? Is the pattern of it simple or does
it have lots of details?

Her objective is to harmonize more to the mirrors - we'll be reframing the art in the center. We will also be switching to anti-reflective glazing (Optium Museum). I've pulled a few Roma mouldings that might be candidates, but am looking for other choices.

There is a company that supplied carved frames at my previous job.
They supplied finished frames and not moulding and they were very wide (5" - 6" or more) and had open carving designs in kind of a Spanish floral design in various finishes similar to the toned metal frames in your picture.
We used these frames for some mirrors in very high end client's homes.
I don't have the company name handy, but I can get it tomorrow and post or forward it to you.

That would be great. Thanks

How about one of the larger Palladio frames from Roma? 761055 (or one of the other colors) seem like they'd fit in that styling. And they're easily modified if you need to tweak or change color highlights. Plus the shaping of the moulding is reminiscent of the frames on the mirrors.

International 700-205 or 790-10. You can get them through Valley or Tracey.

Don't let the very reasonable prices discourage you into thinking their moulding are not as nice as some higher priced items elsewhere. It has been a while since I have looked at these two items so have them send you chips that you can hold in your hand to determine if they are a fit for finish and quality.

You can buy needed length but box quantities are only 60' and have a nice discount.

Decor 8867 is a nice warm tone. The photo below shows texture, but aside from the look of distressing of the metal leaf in the finish, the flat areas are smooth not textured. Also the dusting would also compliment it well. Get a chip, since the frame looks much better than the photo.

Did you consider cutting the existing frame down to match the height of the mirror frames (and doing the top & bottom legs in proportion), and trading out the pale mat for a dark one? From the photo I think that's all that's needed.

Nope - 'cos she LOVES the existing mats, and HATES the existing frame

Do you have any idea how deep the rabbet (sp?) needs
to be? It looks like the mats have some depth, and I'm
guessing it needs to be over 5/8" deep?

Haven't seen the art yet - doing this by email at this stage, till I've assembled a variety of options for her to look at - but I think you are correct in saying that it will need a reasonably deep rabbet.

Okay, am home on lunch now, so I have time to post these.
Took a bit to look at frames and here's what caught my
eye. But I have a feeling a couple of them are shallower
than what you'd need:

(this one looks more copper/bronze in real life and less gold)

I'm guessing that the frame on her work is around four inches wide, and
only the first and last on my list approach that. I know these don't look'
exactly like the color of the mirror frames, but I tend to shy away from
matchy-matchy. LOL...which, for all I know, is exactly what she wants.

Framer's Inventory has a shadowbox frame that's
not yet listed on their website. It's #1128G, and the
pattern would look good with the artwork. Only thing
is, it might be deeper than you'd like. 2 1/8" rabbet,
with the whole frame being 2 3/4" deep, and 2 3/8"
total width as seen from the front. It might be worth
getting a sample chip from them, just to see it.
Although it would definitely stick out farther than
the mirrors do. Their number is 800-543-2467, and
they're in Portland, OR.

Or you could do something really weird and frame it with one
thing, then put that inside a floater frame.

This Designer Floater Frame looks pretty nasty in the
picture, but it's from the collection that comes to mind,
and might look good with a simple, contrasting frame.

I really like this idea! Have to keep it in mind.

I'm still trying to get the name of the company that supplied the carved frames at my previous job. I believe they came from South America somewhere.
I called my ex-boss ( she's retired now). She is the one who designed and did the ordering, and I may hear back from her on Friday.
These were wide, open carved wood frames and they came in various finishes.
She has a large one hanging in her dining room at home with a mirror in it.
I'll keep trying if you can wait a bit. (and if she can remember the name of the company)

Appreciate your efforts - thanks :)

I'm slowly assembling a list of options for her to review - right now I'm waiting on a bunch of samples to arrive - so yes if you turn up a name in the next week or so that would be very useful, and timely.

Also thanks to everyone else for their very useful suggestions
