Looking for a frameshop?

I did a little quick mental (i.e. questionable) math, and I don't see $11,000 worth of used equipment there - even if it's only six months old.

How does someone give up after six months? I celebrated 26 years on Monday, and I'm still unpacking.

Under Capitalization sounds like a common thread.

No mailing list, no money or understanding of how to market your business. What do you mean I won't go from 0 to 50 customers a week? I remember endLess days of staring out the window waiting for a car to pull in the driveway.

And then there are those who have plenty of money to build a big beautiful shop in there home for the ease and glamour of owning a business only to discover that it requires time and work they are not willing to give sacrifice.

I think another major factor is not every great framer is good with people. This can quickly crumble the glamour. I had a computer repair shop open up next to me, only to close after 1 year. Yes, the slow process of building a client base was painful, but her biggest reason for shutting the door was she did not like dealing with the public.

Of course, I am sure there are a lot of things that life can throw at us to force a change of plans, but I sure these are the two biggest factors.

It's a good thing I don't have a window to stare out any more.

Less, I had a neighbor open a watch and clock repair shop. He was/is GREAT with clocks, but he hated dealing with the people. He went a couple of years, and his business was doing fine, but he just couldn't take talking to customers!

Not just one frameshop on e-bay, but TWO!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2515475079&category=11761 (a re-list of the first one, with a lower price).

And now this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2514460743&category=26261 in Palmdale. No to say anything bad about Palmdale, but if the shop is in Palmdale, I can understand why it is closing.

I also found this little oddity for sale. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2515607616&category=11763 look at the complete custom framing setup they are offering.

Looks like no one is bidding on any of these. Two of them have already timed out.
