Unable to find anything in the archives, and I remember someone asking about it before, but where would I find someone qualified to repair a japanese panel screen? It is in 4 sections, 24-inches tall, the front is painted on paper, the back is fabric which acted as a hinge to connect the 4 panels. It has some tears in the paper and one section has come un-hinged (fabric torn). Not something I am qualified to tackle, but don't know where to look to find the right person.

Thanks for your ideas.

You might want to contact the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco -- 415-581-3500. They would know all the reputable conservators in the area, I should think. They might even have some on staff.

Val, Hoping to use this lady for a project in February.

I believe Rick Granick has used her before as well.

I called the Asian Art Museum, but could only leave a message about what I needed, and will wait for a call back...hopefully.

I did talk with Victoria Blythe Hill, and will be e-mailing her pictures that I took of the screen...she does repair/restore Japanese screen panels.

I will also ask Rebecca.

Thanks, everyone, for the referrals. I spoke with the owner and he was amazed at the quick reply with information, within 15 minutes of his leaving my shop! I told him "I have People! Connections!"

That's what I love about the Grumble....and more.
