With the search ranking experiment and the SEO threads, this also came to mind.

Someone had mentioned (excuse me as I don't remember who) that if you don't sell items via the web, that the main thing is for your local customers to be able to find you.

I try doing keyword searches (Google) from time to time as I think someone would if they were searching for me locally.
For example:

if they search any of these terms we come up on the first page.
picture framing toledo
custom picture framing toledo
picture frames toledo
framing toledo
life framer ohio
If they happen to do a similar search substituting "toledo" for their local town/suburb we get approx same results. For example: Holland, Maumee, Perrysburg, Whitehouse, Waterville.......

if they would happen to search like this (I think a little less likely) we would come up in the #1 spot

picture framer nw ohio
custom framing nw ohio

So I don't know if I really have a question here, other than whatever we can do to make ourselves to come up on the first page even on wider searches, should make our local searches even stronger. YES? That is, for those of us not doing Internet sales at this point.

How do you all rank on local type searches?

Actually, that was one of the tests that John Ranes had in his spread sheet.

Some have some work to do!

No problem John...:)

That's what I mentioned earlier on:My local searches are excellent, always on top of the search results page. Multiple search engines too (multiple anything is always good.... .:p)

That's why a page rank doesn't really bother me. Main thing is for my customers to find me. And they do.
