Dear Grumblers, I have searched the archives but can't find the reference to a product you can dip pliers or other metal things in to make a non marring surface. Could someone direct me to the post or repeat the name and distributor? Thanks much, Melinda

In hardware stores you can find a product that is I believe called Plasti-Dip (or some such) - it comes in colors and clear and is used to rust-proof and make cushiony tool handles.

it'sbeen my experience that this stuff does NOT take abuse/hard usage--just coats, doesnt bond

I have used the stuff on many tool handles including oft used glass pliers - also used it on the heel of my walking stick - so far so good - lasted over 10 years.....
