Hello, I am in the process of turning my basement into a frame shop. I am sheet rocking now and I am running wire for ceiling lights. Can anyone recommend the best lighting for above work tables? I wanted o put cans in but don't think they will give off enough light. I also thought runs of fluerescent. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

I'm home based and I have 8' long florescent lights above where ever possible. I have horizontal moulding racks hanging from the ceiling in certain areas and in those places I have florescent lights on the walls at the highest point.

The choice of bulbs makes a big difference. You want to go with a bulb used for task lighting rather then a warm light.

Defintely triphosphorous (daylight) tubes. Big ones and plenty of them. They are colour corrected to simulate daylight and make recognising colours and designing so much easier. Also, with good wokshop lights you can be confident that your work will certainy pass muster under normal domestic lighting.

Another useful addition is an adjustable light clamped near your v-nailer to shine onto the join and eliminate any shadows thrown across the work area by the overhead lights.
