Marc's Ebay comments gave me a thought.

Has anyone ever tried to sell frames made from leftover moulding on Ebay? It might be worth a try! Maybe I can get rid of a few no-shows as well?

A LOT of people sell their mat scraps on Ebay. I haven't seen moulding though...

Less, I haven't sold leftover moulding yet. But I have sold quite a bit of gift stuff that was here in the store when I first bought it. It was stuff I refused to put back out because it was just, well, shall we say "Ugly". I had like 15 Giuseppe Armani statues and have sold every last one of them. I also have sold several posters with good results. I have some smaller framed pieces that I am getting ready to put on Ebay. In fact I think I will take the time in my store to photograph some antique type stuff and show it on Ebay. I would worry about selling preframed stuff because of shipping issues.

less,

I haven't tried to sell frames made out of left over moulding, but I HAVE sold these business card sets on eBay.

That is how I established the retail price for them, in fact. I sold about 17 or 18 sets and I took the average bid price for them and that is what I am using for my retail price.

I know that it's a strange way to establish a price for retail sales, but it happened that the average price ($59.95 for the set) was somewhat higher than what I probably would have charged if I had simply costed out the work plus a profit factor on the sets.

Kathy, do you use photos of everything you sell on ebay? Does everybody use photos on ebay?

Yes Jo I do use photos. Before I got a digital camera I would use good descriptions or I would hijack somebody elses photo. You can only do that if you are selling an exact item though. Like I sold some Cd's and I went to amazon.com for description and picture. I think when you have a one of a kind item you need to have good pictures to make it sellable.
