Last Day...

Its pickup day and "Can you frame this jersey while I wait" day!

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! Season's greetings to everyone else!

Mike

It could also be seen as my first day of a week off.

Won't come back here until Jan 2nd.

It may be sooner than that if I don't get an Xbox 360.

Merry Christmas all, now relax a bit!

This is my last day also. Last day in business at this location. At 4 O'clock this afternoon I will be closing the doors on a 3 1/2 year adventure in which I have fallen in love with the framing industry. I have don a little of a lot of things in my 57 years but nothing that brings the satisfaction and enjoyment of my work here. I will start the task of breaking down and storing everything Christmas day and by the first of the year hope to be ready to look for a new shop somewhere, anywhere. If anyone has a lead on a good shop for sale or a good location in need of a shop please e-mail me at bragg101@wmconnect.com.

Man Ray, sorry to hear that you are closing up on XMas! Talk about taking boxing day literally!

There was woman advertising her shop for sale in FL. Keiki I think was her grumble name.

You're right about framing being a great vocation, hope you find a new location and can keep doing it!

For me it is pick up day as well. oh and the occassional head pops in the door asking if I can "put together" a quick frame. can I make the frame while they go get the print printed? Gee why do I need the measurements of the print, just make up a $35 frame and we'll pick it up. Hope the 8 by 10 rush frame works for them!

Just had a panic call from Birmingham, AL - about an hour or so away - "Do you sell Thomas Kinkade prints?!" No, sir...click! :icon21: Man, that was fun! I'm so easily amused!
Closing next week but working hard - cleaning, sorting, hauling off and getting ready to sell. I'll reopen January 2nd - I've still gotta pay the mortgage until I sell! Ray, I don't know your story but if Jacksonville, Alabama sounds interesting, send me an email.

I just got a panic call:

"Do you sell religious prints?"

Which religion?

...click...

Well today WAS going to be a fast easy peesie puck-ip day.... then I went to breakfast.....

[you started this Mister Labb:p ]

Porche John and hottie girl friend "Hot For Bret Farve" McGill (Gilly or Jill or Mary or Nancy or Rocky Racoon...:icon11: ) sat down at the counter and John and I started talking cars . . . and Gill started talking to the air about mmmmm the end of the football season....:icon9:

John gets real quiet... "I just scored a signed Bret Farve jersey.... how much to frame it for xmas?"

I didn't know if he was serious or just ignorant.... but it didn't matter...

"Gee, I'm a frame whore. How about a nice walnut shadowbox with the jersey on a game hanger for say $450 and a Mocha Vente?"

"I want to show you something on my car" he says loudly.... and we're out the door.. hands me the jersey, and asks "when do you want the Mocha?"

"About 10:30 would be fine."

The "Chiefs" background didn't bother him a bit.... and he loved the idea that they can open that "jersey box" from the back, so she can wear it on game days...

And that is the end of looking for a cheap route for jersey shadow boxes....

Santa's been goo' 2 me:D

Now I can just play with the Wiz mat program and do weird stuff untill the rest of the $4,756 of presents are picked up.

Jen, I think there coming down the road now.

They just left here and had one more stop before they got home! I'm outta here, see you all next Thursday!

Lady comes in with 2 large black & white pictures: Can you mat and mount those?? I say: Yes, give us 1/2 an hour.

Then she pulls out a HUGE signed football jersey and wants an equally huge shadowbox............but then says: Don't panic, it's for January!

Whewww!

Couple comes in today with a (very fat) folded flag, numerous medals, dog tags, and a photo ... it's a Christmas present for Dad they say ... hmmm Christmas 2007 says me! Oh we know you can't do it today! We've told him he'll have it after Christmas. Phew! But can we have it for New Year?

Then there's been load of mats to go in ready mades.

And all I now have to finish is one more shadowbox.

We are open today, Sunday, from noon until 5pm. We should make (I am hoping) about $1500 in Opportunity Money. I know at least one person and possibly two are planning to buy a drafting table set at $250 a pop. We have sold about 8 of those this year! And there are a few more framing pickups. And no doubt cutting custom mats for the few readymade frames left on the shelves. What good buck$ we have made off of them this year!
