Did you know: it's a fact that airplanes leaving Las Vegas weigh less than the ones landing? :faintthud:

It's my favorite place for that once a year diet plan!

So, I'll be going to the Las Vegas show, mostly because I want to buy some new equipment, but especially because a good friend has taught me video poker!

But, I digress.

If you're going to the LV Show, check out Harrah's for rooms. I just booked three nights for $50.00 per night! That's half of the LV Hilton. AND, Harrah's is right on the monorail line, just a few stops from the Hilton.

Southwest had some good deals earlier today from Tampa: $139.00 each way nonstop. I'm going to wait to book air for a few weeks. But, the room is refundable.

Anyone else going?

Here's an even better deal-

Apply for the Southwest Airlines Visa Card from Chase. It costs $59 per year. Use it to make ONE PURCHASE. It can be a candy bar, a tank of gas, a latte - it doesn't matter. Then pay off the card and put it in a drawer and cancel it before the renewal. (if you don't another credit card)

www.southwest.com/offer

You will receive 16 flight credits, enough for a FREE Round Trip Ticket anywhere Southwest flies. If you and your spouse/significant other apply for the card in their own names, you BOTH will get a free ticket, which is transferrable to anyone-so you could take and employee/friend. (ok so you will have to pay the airport security fees but it is still a great deal)

Remember when booking, the Chinese Dinner is on Tuesday January 25th. :)

Also, today is the deadline for the VIP Pass.

Last year the Hilton offered a deal for 3 nights plus free food coupons for their buffet for 160.00.

I'm hoping to go. Southwest no longer has non stop service to Vegas from NY. I'm not too keen on a layover in Chicago in late January.

I heard on NPR yesterday that the Liberace museum is closing at the end of this year. WCAF better be pretty darn good now to provide the incentive to go to LV.
;) Rick

We actually did go to the Liberace museum a few years ago. It is currently located in two separate spaces at opposite ends of a strip center. The guy from the Liberace Foundation said they hope to reopen sometime in the future, in a better location like the strip.

That was an interesting interview. The gentleman said they rivaled the Hoover Dam in terms of visitors! I was surpirsed.

I was fortunate to see Liberace's last show at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. As sick as he was, the show was spectacular! Almost three hours of non-stop music, audience interaction and jokes. He was a true showman!

I'm in, I signed up for the VIP pass again this year. That's the best deal and the way to go in my opinion. You can take as many classes as you can, get three nights at the Hilton and a some food vouchers! Can't beat that $700.00 for three nights of education in Vegas!

I plan to be there again. Don't forget the Limo Dinner Extravaganza! When we get closer, Rob Markoff (our host), will post a new thread with all the details.

Ummm ... had to read that twice, lol! :o

Hopefully AJ and I will be there ... still too early to tell. We should be moving cross country some time around then. It's just going to depend on where we are. Maybe we'll come in the motor home, lol!

And the "Limo Dinner Extravaganza" is a MUST!

We will be there. We won't use miles for such a short trip. Southwest and Virgin always have deals.

Haven't checked hotels yet, but it won't be the Hilton. BTW, I was listening to a radio show on the way in to work the other day. The doc being interviewed said you should never eat from the hotel buffet when traveling because it is a smorgasbord of viruses. We like to do an early room service breakfast and then jump in a taxi to WCAF. In the past we have found excellent deals at Wynn/Encore (very close by) but we might investigate Aria this year. I do miss the late night HIlton fun though...:D

Glad to see that PMA is in September next year.
