Went to order my Bainbridge foamboard today, went to my new LJ pricing manual and guess what?

No regular Bainbridge foamboard listed.

I'm looking at the new Sept. 16 2002 book and on page36 they list Foam Mounting Boards. We gotcher Artcare, we gotcher Speedmount, we gotcher Bienfang, International and Tru Vue. Don't gotcher regular Bainbridge Foamboard.

Whazzupwidat? :eek: :eek: :eek:
 
O forgot to add: the Atlanta order desk couldn't find it either. Thought mayube I was looking on the wrong page or something
 
Maybe I'm taking stupid pills, but I could've sworn I've orderd Bainbridge Foam from LJ this past year. We were using Bainbridge exclusively having bought the advertising stuff about its capturing gases, etc etc etc.

Sorry if I'm having a senior moment. happens.
 
Why do you want to buy it from LJ? I've always been able to get a better deal from my local supplier, even with LJ's 17% supplies discount.
I pay $84.75 per case. - edit - for Artcare.
 
Mike, yes you are having senior moment. :confused: New price list, look on page 36 at the top of the page, it says "Bainbridge Artcare Foamboard".

Lessafinger, who are you getting it from at that price, a case at the LJ price is 102.70 per case if you order 1-3 cases. I would love it get it at your price, as I'm sure everyone else would.

Am I having a senior moment as well? I thought Mike was asking for regular foamboard, and Roxanne is referencing Artcare, which to me is not the same thing? Artcare is more money?
 
My local supplier:
Bainbridge regular foamcore: $46.59/case
Bainbridge Artcare foamcore: $84.99/case

Hmm, glad LJ won't sell to me.

Well, I am not sure just WHO is really having a senior moment?? Mike, MM, or me!

Mike did say regular Bainbridge but then in the post above, he mentioned buying into the zeolite theory so who is having the "REAL" senior moment??

I get either International or Bienfang acid Free F/C from Larson and get it for right around $80 + dollars a case. None of the other suppliers in the area offer it for less (usually more).
I haven't bought the regular stuff in the last couple of years, but I am thinking about getting it again for mounting posters.

My apologies to all of you. Got home, checked invoices and I was buying SPEEDMOUNT, not the regular Bainbridge foamboard. I stopped using Speedmount because doing a time/cost analysis found it was way too expensive than the old board/Colormount process.

I usually use only Artcare but needed a coupla boxes of regular foam for doing a commercial account.

The Senior Moment came when I forgot the "commercial" or "regular" foam I had been buying from LJ was Speedmount.

And yes, I can buy my foam from a local vendor but choose not to for a variety of reasons.
 
Here's a semi-related subject, since Michael seems to be done here. Here, slightly paraphrased, are the stated views of two experienced framers I've talked to regarding fomecore:

"I can't imagine why I would use any regular fomecore. The price difference for the acid-free is just not that great. It's always going to be better to use acid-free materials for any framing - even dry-mounting posters."

"I can't imagine the justification for making acid-free fomecore. It is not an adequate C/P mounting board and Coroplast is a superior C/P filler. Regular fomecore is a good mounting material and filler for non-C/P framing."

Any thoughts on these two divergent views? I myself am torn. I'm getting tired of stocking 4 or 5 different fomeboards in case quantities. (2 thicknesses, regular and acid-free plus black. Oh, and now there's a black ArtCare.)
