What hanging system would you use to hang a 3 ft by 7 ft mirror?

May be a couple of hours before I can check back with the G. Going to church now.

Have a nice evening.

Pray for me, Ray...

I'd use a Z-Bar or similar interlocking hanger. I presume it is framed.

Just finished a 3x6 foot framed mirror, skinned the back of the frame with 1/4" luan ply and then attached a Z bar on the back to hang it.

I would suggest the mirror be attached to the wall using a mastic glue made for mirrors. (Let the mirror/glass company do the install of the mirror!)

Build and attach the frame directly to the wall using liquid nails or my favorite "Loctite Power Grab" Hold the frame in place for 10 minutes and viola you have framed you mirror.

Did this on a 48" x 120" mirror with a 1 1/4" bevel. Frame was 4 inches wide and came in 9 foot lengths. Had to splice it together to get the length need. There were only two
2 1/2 " brads used to draw the frame up tight to the wall where the wall was bowing.

I use luan SCREWED into back of frame, not stapled. Also would recommend a strip of z-bar at bottom. Install top first and let mirror sit a while.

Thanks for the information.

Dave, Said a prayer for you.

How much does this big mirror weigh?

Hangman 30" ers. Top and bottom. They're more forgiving than Z-bar if the wall is not perfectly flat. Allegedly, the 30"ers are good for 360 lbs each. Or a wooden cleat if you can live with the distance from the wall.

I haven't found a wall in the county where I can use Z-bar and not run into problems because the wall is not flat enough. But some mirrors that the designers are using around here require 4 - 30" ers.

Rick,

Where do you get the hangman products. I am in New Jersey and have contacted the website and am waiting for an answer, but was wondering if any distributors carry it. It seems everyone had the zbar, but i agree with your observation about the walls of America.

Thanks, Nicole
