Wondering what else is out there besides Beinfang laminate. Seems they sold off the laminate or merged with someone else and now the stuff is junk.

Who else makes it? I'm looking for a matte finish, perforated. 41" x 50' typical roll size.

Check the website of your printer's manufacturer. I learned the hard way with Expressions and Epson ink. Once you find what is recommended you can track it down.

I never had a problem with their old stuff that came in the box with Beinfang on it. This new stuff has a definite green cast to it.

I just googled Drytac and they have an equivalent. Good price point as well.

Anyone use this?

The DryTac product was our choice of laminate. Temp was in the 190 degree range instead of the 215 degree range of the Bienfang product. All but their thickest canvas texture is pre-perforated.

Sand texture was our most popular and most forgiving of issues when laminating. It might be renamed to EmeryTex instead of sand.

It also comes 51 inches wide.

I happen to have some emerytex and canvastex in the shop for a good price but will have to check on the quantity.

Assuming you are talking about laminate to be used in a drymount or heated vacuum press.

I only use Printmount laminate because it is perforated.

Haven't tried Drytac...do they have a perforated laminate?

Yes they do.

Rick, I'm looking for the "plain vanilla" matte finish laminate.

I have a roll of linen and have only use it once. Obviously didn't make any money on that job!

So far, I'm leaning towards the drytac stuff.

Sand/EmeryTex is about as Matte as it gets. The texture is every so slight. We didn't like the satin because it seemed to be a bit more finicky.

I could send a sample if you're not in a hurry.

BTW: The DryTac product is a bit less aggressive in the initial tack which makes it quite a bit more 'repositionable' that the other brands too.

I'm close to the end of a roll of Drytac matte lam that I bought from Steph right here on the G, some years ago. Not perforated.

It has been perfect, but we do not use it on dark prints because it washes out the deep, dark colors. It works best on lighter subjects. Easy to work with.

And it does not "grab" the giclees like the Satinex does. That frikkin' Satinex will screw up a giclee right off, if it not perfectly positioned.

I went ahead and ordered a roll of Drytac satin matte laminate. It HAS to be better than the carp that Beinfang is dumping off on everyone. Even tho it is now "Expressions" another company, it is Beinfang that had the responsibility to their customers to at least make sure it was equal to their earlier stuff.
When you call to order it and say you want the Beinfang laminate, this is what is being peddled.

Personally, I will not buy another product that has a Beinfang label on it.

Talk about your guarantees... if you don't like it, I'll buy it off ya.
