GO IRISH!

Open Sat from 10 to 2 - closing an hour early. Closed Monday...though, I am usually closed on Mondays. :)

I'm closing Saturday.

The first 3 years I was open and the new orders were near zero that weekend and the following week. The past two years I "went on vacation" the whole week.

This year Casey will be keeping the shop open next week mostly because there's work to do and I'm going to the Cape to play golf!

Reduced hours. I'm going down to LA to visit my brother, get my Botox treatments, and have dinner with Jennifer Aniston. So I'm closing up the store at noon on Friday to drive down to LA. My p/t employee will open the store from 10-2 on Saturday. Sunday and Monday we'll be closed. I'm driving back on Tuesday, but the p/t employee will have the store open all day.

Given how sluggish sales have been the past two weeks, I don't think I'm going to miss out on a dime.

People don't shop here on holiday weekends. I could sit there in the store by myself and watch the Walk of the Living Dead stagger by outside, or I could actually get some badly needed time off.

Closed Sept 1 - 12th.

Just so happened this year I had to be out of town on Sat/Sunday anyhow. Tues. my wife and two of our married daughters and their families are leaving for NY to see our eldest daughter/son-in-law graduate from Gilead (missionary training school) and then they are off to their new assignment in Guatemala. They have previously served in Ecuador for the past 10 years.

This will be the first vacation that we have taken in the three years since we have been open. Aug 07 has been my best month ever, so hopefully this won't hurt to much, but we wouldn't miss it.

We're closed on Monday and will be working on the house. Normally I'd be open on Sunday but the city of Cleveland Hts, Ohio has my day planned out for me and I bow to their mighty hand.

Paul... I would love to see some photos of those Living Dead that stroll past you place!!

We're going to close! Yes!! Three days off in a row!! These will be the first three consecutive days off I've had since the beginning of July!!! And on my birthday weekend, yet!!!! Woohooo, sleep and fun with the Lovely Blanche!!!!!

Open Saturday full hours(well my employees will be at least, I'm goin to Reno for the rib cookoff). closed Monday.

Closed Monday for the holiday; then Thur, Fri, Sat because we will be in ATLANTA

Mike

open Sat normal hours 10-3, closed Monday as we tried opening last year on Labor Day and did zilch...going fishing in my new boat

Open Sat, normal hours (10-4).

I was with a number of framers in the MPLS/STPAUL area last night. I had this very discussion with them, as I was thinking/considering/kinda planning to be open. After a bit of discussion, a vote was taken. So it is offical

CLOSED MONDAY! Democracy rules!!!!!

Normal hours on Saturday 10-5, normally closed on Sunday.....think I'll take Monday off too. And not go anywhere!

I could say Im taking Sunday and Monday off...but I say that every week and never do it...

Those of us who plan to just be closed Monday, but not go away boating or other fun stuff must make a pact. It will be hard, but we can do it:

WE WILL NOT GO TO THE SHOP!

Take the pledge.....

Open Saturday - sidewalk sale of photo frames and framed art in the morning. It's likely that the neighborhood will be quiet as everyone will be "down the ocean" (that's what they say here - and you have to say it fast, almost like "downy ocean"). I stayed open last year and did business that Saturday. (unlike the day after Thanksgiving. I always come in and never sell ANYTHING).

Sunday and Monday the whole family will be here - building one last fixture, and rehanging the framed examples. Pictures in Verdaccio's thread as soon as I can manage it.

Planning normal hours for Saturday and closed on Monday. After reading so many threads on here I may consider closing early on Saturday to watch OSU whomp Youngstown State.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, with lots of time off and rest. We all work too darn hard, for too little money. I'm going to LA, to spend some time with my brother and to enjoy the cultural capital of California!

Ha! They have the Getty, the Norton-Simon, LACMA, the Armand Hammer museums -- we don't have anything that comes close.

I will be closed on Saturday - will not go near that border and that bridge - no way, no siree Bob! Got in my stock of dark chocolate and diet coke.

Gonna spend all weekend working on photos of art horses, artist statements, press releases, etc etc etc..... Art Horse auction in one month!!! LOTSA work to do!

This August has been my worst month ever in 25 years - here in Buffalo, the second poorest city in the US America!!!

I guess I've been working too hard, I didn't realize it was Labor Day weekend until yesterday! I'll be open my usual 10-3 on Saturday, always closed Sunday, and I reckon I'll stay closed on Monday. I'm sure nobody will miss me :p Besides, my wife said it is her sister's birthday and "hinted" I should go over there with her (that's the only reason I knew it was Labor Day, she asked me if I was going to work on Monday).

Hey Mar, I feel your pain. Cleveland was the #1 poorest city before this last study, where we dropped to number 4 behind Detroit, yourself, and some city I can't remember. However, we only dropped because one of the factors is population and we also lost 7% of our people. Just think though, running successful businesses in this climate, about what experience we'll have and in what a great position we'll be in if things turn around. And if they don't we can take that experience and use it in a place where people actually buy things.

Well, we did it! We didn't go to the store even a little bit today!

First we went car looking (didn't find what we were looking for...)

Then laundry and light housekeeping,

Then dinner with daughter's family.

How pleasant!

I had 2 whole days away from the shop, boy did I need it. After working 2 weeks without a day off, and a ton of extra hours this summer, I am beat. Though yesterday I did spend half the day crunching numbers for a much needed price increase.

School suppply shopping yesterday, clothing shopping today and a new bearded dragon and tank set-up. We had to chip in on that more than we planned. My youngest has been helping out at the shop this summer to earn money for his newest lizard. Anyone need an unusually organized kid to put away mat scrap?? Man, that boy is good!

Boy it was an expensive weekend!

I was closed today, but I had to go to the shop to get something that I left Saturday. A couple from Canada came in, so I cut on the lights for them. I was cursing myself for not locking the door behind me. Well, they bought over $400 in art and are coming back tommorrow to work out the framing. Just bought a second residence here. I'm now cursing myself for cursing myself earlier.
So next Labor Day, when I am closed, I am going to ask myself "Do you Feel Lucky Today?"
