I'm looking for a source of supply for L- shaped nails or pins suitable for supporting just matted and glazed art in a not-for-profit art gallery. I've seen the like in galleries and museums but I just can't seem to find them.

The closest I've found are "Ledge Nails" from UMSCO but they are waaaaay to thick.

I can get "L" shaped nails which are used for Danish Cord seatweaving. They are about 1" long with about a 1/4" "L" to it. They may be too small, but let me know if you need more info.

How about using shoulder hooks? They're available in lots of sizes and finishes.

If you need a lot of 'purchase' in the wall, the little collars come off the hooks easily.

Try to use standard #8 washer head screws from the nearest hardware store. The head diameter is about 14 mm. So, you would have about 5mm to use as a support serface.

You can paint screw heads in a black acrylic paint if nickel plating is too shiny for the exhibition.
