We are again having trouble with this. It draws in lint which can leave indentations on the posters. Help! Clean with anti static plex cleaner? Advice please. I searched the archives but nothing came up.

Thanks.

I found my answer but is there anything I can do this week? As in now?

Call Len at Frame Specialties. (574) 522-6605

I would worry about some of the anti static cleaners leaving a film which could be transfered. I love using Novus cleaner as no dust will stick to the acrylic, but I would never use it when the acrylic would be in direct contact with art. I may just be paranoid on this one though.

Dave is right; anti-static cleaners might not be a good idea, especially when heated and in direct contact with an image.

The Perma-Lon Release Board is made of plastic, which generally carries a strong static charge, and it is more of a problem when humidity is low -- such as in a heated press.

You can significantly reduce the static by wiping it with a moist cloth, anad buff it dry immediately before mounting. That temporarily increases the humidity on the surface of the release board and inhibits the attraction of particulate debris, and it works well for us. Jsut be sure to buff it dry before laying it on the art.

Of course, all parts of the mounting 'sandwich' need to be dusted on both sides before mounting, in order to avoid the dreaded pimples and dimples.

I second calling Len. I would be afraid to try any of the anti-static coatings. Please Post if he has some good suggestions. I am going to try the damp cloth routine. I wipe it down each time I use it anyway, so using a damp cloth is no hardship. RH is really low here since the heat is running most of the time. In fact, I have been reaching for the silicone release board more frequently.
