Have a customer from Hawaii. She has a set of pieces that are framed in Koa wood - a 1x1 inch somewhat rounded style like the profile in the pic, but less round and slightly flattened on the top. She just got a new piece in the set as a gift from a friend who went to Hawaii.

She is not going back to Hawaii for some time and can match the frame there, but wants to get it framed here, now.

Wondering if anyone knows if any distributors are carrying koa wood?

At one time :http://www.martinandmacarthur.com/ was the best resource, though they no longer show moulding on their website.

Tracy Chop (now International Moulding) also was a good resource.

You might also want to contact Steve Hegseth at Direct Moulding as he has lots of Hawaiian contacts.

Profile looks like something Baer could make for you too.
 
What size frame do you need? I have a ready-made 8x12 from Diamond Head Frame (ph 808-593-0663, but can't guarantee its current) in exactly the profile you're looking for.

Otherwise, (per Rob) contact Direct Moulding (866-641-1705) for the Koa veneer line. I believe I saw a profile of what you're looking for as well.
 
Aloha Woods in Kailua, Kona HI have great Koa wood moulding. Their business cards are even made of Koa. Call (808) 329-5189. Prices great good quality shipping is pretty much what UPS charges them.
