I don't vomit at the sight, because it means they are going to spend some money getting it framed. And it's usually a puzzle! (Who's his marketing firm?)
I have to admire him as a businessman. How can anyone make so much money from something so awful and not be a great businessman? I love to see his work come into my shop. It means a big $ale.
I got mine because a client never pickup the one she bought from the Avon lady. I had another client come in with the same print and I sold the same frame on her's so I just gave her the other clients piece a week later and kept the unframed one. Doesn't this sound like the Twilight Zone?
Envy or what. The guy is very succesful. I should be so lucky. I love to frame his prints. I don't care for his style but we have to give credit when it is do; I don't like what his publisher has done to the market place or that he appears to be greatly reveared.
How much do his original works sell for?And how much do his prints sell for?
Just curious.
I hate the print trade with a passion.I know of a couple of deeply average "artists" over here whose prints retail at maybe a hundred sheets less than the originals.I feel that this is a complete rip off.People are buying prints and are being told at times that they are some sort of investment???My backside they are.The print trade thrives on peoples ignorance of art and their fear of original artwork. There seems to be some kind of comfort blanket mentality involved int he purchase of a print. The customer seems to think that if the artist has a print made of their work then they must be good..
I have had the experience of a customer that brought in an "original" Kinkade for me to oh and ahh over for the purchase price of $1200.00. She actually swallowed the dealers line that an original was the same as a transfer. So, being a thoroughly honest and forthright person I told her that her transfer was worth 1200 but that the original had just sold for 65000. She left in a huff and never more darkened my doorway. I have this way of ticking off people and and totally non political. If you don't want to hear the answer, don't ask the question.
