If you are a user/fan/addict of Kappa block/board, start your withdrawl treatments now.
Alcan the mother company who manufactures it in Europe where it is very popular, recently bought Gatorboard for $98 million. (if you don't like the competition, buy 'em out.)
The rational as explained to me by the Alcan rep, was "it was cheaper than building a Kappa plant ($15mill) here in the USA and continue to go head to head with Gator which already does $30mill in annual sales."
Kappa in EU, Gator in US. Boy I wish it was the other way around. I'm going to miss that hard shell.
Just finished a 47"x73" fabric wrapped mat. Last one I guess. 8ply just ain't the same.
