Do any of you ever buy just one leg chop from your supplier?
It happens all the time to me when I think I can make a frame with leftover stuff I always, well not always but pretty close. Am short just that few inches and need one leg. Does your supplier do that for you? I haven't called mine to ask but I will (LJ) and see if they can do that.
I need a 19 1/4 inch piece of 400CBR and I have an 18 inch leg.
Is it not cool to ask them? Will they want to sell me the whole stick?
I can go get it at will call locally. How should I ask for it?

Just call LJ Ask for one leg of 400cbr 19 1/4 inches long.

I have done it sometimes. :o

Why order a whole stick if you don't need it?

All of my suppliers will cut one rail and ship. I always order just a little longer, and shave it myself.

All of mine will cut and ship 1 rail. And yes, we have to do that periodically. I mean, what if you drop one and have to replace it? Only makes sense.

Or when you accidentally stack two v-nails when you meant to shoot one, and it comes right through the top.
 Rick
(Not that I've ever done this...:icon11:)

Or the customer does not use the hanger you have kindly provided and the thing comes crashing down and the glass breaks and the bottom rail splinters and has to be replaced.

I get a lot of that.

I also order frames where each rail is a different color (usually metal frames).

Suppliers are used to these requests.

we order one rail from each of suppliers on occassion to replace damaged/etc as per the above responses...never had a supplier question it, and I always get the chop 1" longer and shave it to match as needed....one supplier will even send me a short if they have it rather than a chop.

If you order it a little longer, why not order it straight cut. I'm not sure with other vendors but Studio will cut lets say 15" straight cut. You miter it yourself and its cheaper than chop.

I hate to order a single rail as what do you do if it is from a different batch and doesn't quite match up properly? Then you have to reorder the frame.

When I was better organized I would chop my shorts and left overs into little frames and put those out. My thinking was if I don't have the scraps I wouldn't be tempted to use them.

Of course they'll do it.

But many will have minimum order of 5-6 ft or so (and one has a minimum of $35 or they'll add a surcharge...). So you might pay a bit more.

But as many have said, matching what you have is a bigger concern.
