I replace the filter on my Junaire compressor. I have had so much trouble with this thing since. My last filter lasted me a long time. So long that I am not sure when I replaced it. The new filter started leaking air within a a couple weeks, sent it back for a replacement. That one started leaking air within a couple weeks. Sent it back, too. All in all, I have sent back at least 4 filters. I think I am on #5 and guess what, in less than 10 days it was leaking air.

I was talking about the problem with a friend. He took a look at it and started to take it apart. We decided it needed to be sealed at the bottom. It looked like the seal had broken and needed some E6000. Later, I was looking at it with a little more scrutiny. This is what I discovered.........

If you take that glass bowl off, it can be cleaned and dried. If you remove that little black "plug" on the bottom, it too can be cleaned and dried. The other bowl was not leaking, so I compared the two and discovered there really isn't a seal as such. After a good cleaning and air drying, I put it all back together and finally solved my air leak.

Now my question is, can the actual little white filter piece be cleaned and reused. I have always replaced the entire piece, but if I can clean the white filter part, I can save $$$$$?

A water filer can be cleaned and replaced. The think at the bottom is the water drain. If anything, it sounds like if there is an "O" ring on that plug it is not seating well and or is is not pressed enough to make a seal. If there is no "O" ring, you can apply adhesive style gasket material to make a good seal.

The title of this thread implies that the Jun-Air, itself, was leaking, not an accessory attached to it.

Ok, so I am female. I know what I am trying to say............it is that thingy attached to the Junair, so it must be the Junair..................:D :D :D

I can handle all those fancy tools that come my, I just don't always know how to describe it in "proper guy terms." What can I say.............LOL!!!!! I just know I am not confused and I understand me perfectly............:D

I used a Jun-Air at my previous job for many years. I installed a water and an oil filter on the air line. This compressor was used for fitting only and I didn't want water or oil coming out of the air line.
The filters were from Grainger, they might have been Dayton. They were not Jun-Air factory filters and they were a lot cheaper and I never had a problem with them.
