I’ve had a Fletcher FrameMaster for a while, and today while finishing a job off it jammed. I took it to bits and I jammed it but now it’s not firing … until it does and then again 2 or 3 come shooting out.

What could be causing this?

Bummer! Hubby says it looks like either the push plate (part No.7 in the linked diagram) isn't working,
or there's a problem with spring (No. 15). It's easy to lose track of a spring, when reassembling these.
The last one we bought (several years ago) had something break on the first day, so we ordered a
spare part kit. Since then, we keep an extra on hand, and the threat of opening its box seems to
keep the long timers behaving.

Sorry for your trouble, and I hope you can solve it. Link: https://device.report/manual/4842112 FLETCHER Framemaster™ Point Driver Installation Guide

It doesn't sound like the firing mechanism is engaging at all.
Can you take a video of what the bottom looks like when you try to fire a Point?

I second getting a spare, of every tool that you cannot work without.
The spare doesn't have to be up to the standards of the primary, but t has to be able to do the job when the primary needs maintenance.
I've got about 4 older model Fletcher Frame Masters in a box in the back room.
Something like this: https://www.dickblick.com/items/fletcher-frame-mate-framing-tool/?clicktracking=true&wmcp=pla&wmcid=items&wmckw=17130-0010&country=us&currency=usd&srsltid=AfmBOoqQH2aPyyaW834GdFED6Sv5xaQGcVa6TdCReJX-Xdx4sAGM_lt2BxQ Restricted Access 2023
can be the only option in some cases, and can be a back up for a Frame Master in a pinch.
