As framers, we are asked to frame all sorts of difficult items. Often, there is too much time spent in trying to decide how to mount these items in a way that is reversible and safe for the material. If only we were familiar with a variety of techniques and materials that we could feel comfortable with, instead of spending time trying to figure out these puzzles ourselves!
This class, unlike other shadowbox classes, is all about mounting three-dimensional objects without damaging them, including mounts for items to be removed/replaced in the frame.

Nationally known educator, James Miller, MCPF, GCF, will present unique, non-invasive, innovative mounting methods using clear polyester film, formed rods, wire, and manufactured mounting materials. Mounting boards and reinforcements will also be discussed.

Huh?? Is this the same Jim Miller who sat next to me at the Grumble dinner at Atlanta last year?? The same J. Miller who kept sneaking steak off my plate when he thought I wasn't looking?? (Uh huh, Jim, ya thought I missed that din'tcha??)

And TALK!!!! Oy, that man asked one question after another right through dinner!! I didn't finish dessert (the part that Jim didn't want, anyway) until a half hour after the room cleared of other Grumblers!! You WERE referring to Jim's questions weren't you?? I never got a chance to get a question in edgewise all evening!!

All in all, ............................... hey Jim, I guess you ARE a heckuva nice guy, particularly if you take this bit of ribbing very personally and post a complete critique and political/religious analysis of my recollections of that evening and turn this thread into more of a frankenthread than what I have already done!!!

Class in a bar.... now there's a concept I hadn't thought of.... should drive 'em in... it's the "after" that could be the problem... I hear that PJ's has deserts that are to die for.
Should be a great time and class.... Jim, Melinex 516 is NOT for Chocolate Cake anymore. Use brass rod.

When will it be Miller time in California?

This class sounds great! Unfortunately we can not make it, but I was wondering if Mr. Miller will be giving his class in the central California region anytime soon?

Greg, talk to your nearest PPFA chapter, which may be the best way to find classes nearby, just as the PPFA chapter in St. Louis is sponsoring this meeting. PPFA chapter meeting usually have classes, and they are always good classes.

Some distributors of framing supplies have an annual open house or similar event with special sales, maybe a cookout, and other attractions. Classes at such events may be sponsored by the distributor, or shared with the local PPFA chapter, or shared with some manufacturers.

I'd welcome an invitation to come to California anytime.

Excellent program, Jim, as always.

I got home from St. Louis about 1:30 am, and I am ready to put my new
"bent steel mounts" knowledge to test. It is so wonderful to learn a new trick that will solve so many of those tricky mounting challenges.

(After a liberal dose of caffeine, of course! yaaaawn!)
