In this weeks delivery I got a cream matboard and a purple matboard.

They were packaged face to face. Of course the cream goes on top and now has a nice purple effect. :icon45:

Is there away way to remove the purple?? Gum eraser is useless.

Augh, we don't get another delivery until Friday.

Fingers crossed for Grumble magic! :help:

If the cream is a smooth mat you can try a very fine sandpaper, 800 grit or higher, then erase carefully with a magic rub or use an eraser pad.. Hopefully it's not a large mat.

Magic Rub eraser is the best eraser since it does not remove any surface paper. You may end up usind sand paper though.

How about getting on the phone and giving your supplier a piece of your mind!

Explain that they will now have to eat that sheet of cream matboard and send you another and hopefully your customer will understand who messed up.

No matter what you do to "clean the mat" it will look like you did. It will never look like a nice clean, new matboard does so, don't bother. Plus, you want it to look as you got it for when you return it.

You guys rock! 1500 grit is my friend.

Jeff, I will look for the magic eraser, but more then likely will have to mail order it. That's what I had to do for the gum. We live in the middle of nowhere. Not even the Walmart 30 miles away had them. LOL

Framah - I agree it should be replaced, but it is Saturday. At the very best I might be able to get it Tuesday.

I am uber picky and I can't tell. Luckily it was a smooth mat!

One note, breathing in 1500 grit mat dust is NOT advisable.

THANKS!!

You can also pick up the eraser in a fabric store. There they are called "fabric erasers", quilters really like them.

I'm glad that worked out for you. I've used the sanding trick many times and it also works to smooth the bevel and the corners of a mat if you wipe the sandpaper towards the inside in one direction only. I don't wear lip gloss so it's not a problem for me. :icon11:
On something like this you have nothing to lose really and if it works it goes in the "use again in the future" file.
An eraser pad can come in handy also. It's like a sock filled with art gum powder. LJ carries it.

Just a thought with out anything backing it up. I wonder what a dry Mr Clean Magic Eraser would do?

It is now one of my favorite tools for taking care of those annoying shinny spots that sometimes show up on matte black frames. Thanks Edie for that tip.
