Interesting Idea

Now that is really cool!

Thanks Jay.

Carry on.

Vivian presented this idea at the PPFA meeting in Hudson Ohio the other week. If everyone would participate and send in a frame or two, just think of the impact. They are going to have to reconize it for a news story and give it some good press. Think about if one of your pieces show up on camera and you can document that to your local station and the extra PR that might generate. Time to use up all that left over moulding and mat fall outs boys and girls.

OK, mine didn't print 4x4 or 6x6, but it more than filled the space on a page. Need to figue out how to shrink...

That's a great idea! I wonder who in this industry has the clout to get someone at CBS to listen to them.

Exactly Jo, that was Vivians idea, as a united group of independant framers we have that clout. If hundreds and hundreds (or better yet 1000,s) of framed suns arrive at same time they will have to set up and take notice and this will become a news story. Other news outlets will notice and follow. Everybody

Did you ever see the movie, NEWIES? It was back in the days of Pulitzer and Herst and how they wanted to increase profits by charging the newsboys an extra penny a paper. The kids organized against them and their great numbers brought the giant to their knees. Just shows their can be power in numbers.

Great idea! I would suggest to only mat and frame, NO glazing. If any (or all) are seen as a backdrop or something on TV we would want to eliminate any glare. As Vivian says the timing is important- they should all arrive when she suggests.

Hello Framers!
RE: the sunshines. To print them in the 4x4 size, save them to your computer. If you print from your browser it will fill the page.

We WILL get national TV coverage--be a part of a big campaign.

Also, note the "open house" idea with customers framed work--it is very benefical to business.

Hello Again,
Printing out the posters, post cards and sunshines: you have to right click and "save them to..."

Kudos to Jay for bringing this over here for attention.

I hope y'all post pics here, too...

Thanks, Vivian- very cool!

You could also enter them into the compentention.

OK, I can't open them when I 'save to'. Sometimes this computer drives me CRAZY! I tried copy and open in Publisher (that is my usual work-around), I tried to save to my pictures (won't let me open from this) I think the issue is .art or .bmp, but not .jpeg as is should be... Or maybe my computer is recalcitrant.

Couldl you save them to a disk and then open them?

What if one of us copied them and sent them to you?

Vivian - CBS does know about this potential inundation of packages, yes? Otherwise, with the mindset these days, I would hate to see a news item about "mysterious packages" arriving at CBS to be spirited away by security forces and blown up by the bomb squad...

I am serious with this question. Media outlets do not take kindly to unsolicited parcels.

Ellen - when I downloaded the pix they were jpgs.

Hello Framers,
Charles Osgood will receive a framed "National Art & Framing Month" title frame to hang along the top of the hundreds along with directions on how to hang a picture wall(although I have a framer scheduled to do it for them. I do have a "connection" at CBS.

Vivian

Dear Ellen

Regarding the downloading of the sunshines...
It sounds like your computer has a virus filter that changes the extensions of downloaded files. Try going into My Computer (assuming you have a PC), find the files that you downloaded, and Rename the file so that the extension is .jpg.
Thanks Pal

Hey Viv could we create our own suns? It would be neat for all folks to have an idea and they all show up different, or some from the website and some unique? Heck people with digital camera could make their own, painters get to work, and if you like working with premade suns-your got the web.

Is that an ok thing to do???

Hah...Patrick...you beat me to that question. So?

Vivian,

To hang steady and neatly hundreds of frames using conventional hardware and techniques would be a tedious task. If you wish, I could provide your framer/installer with a pair of AccuHang tools and with whatever quantity is needed of AccuHang brackets. You saw that technology at the recent Decor Show in NY. Frames to be sent don’t need to have any hardware or wire attached, thus saving time for the framers who endorse the project.

Or, I can provide you with AccuHang Universal locator/markers that can be used with whatever hardware frames arrive. (These devices have not been demonstrated at the Show.) If a frame arrives with wire attached, installer first takes off the wire from the hardware, and then uses these universal tools for two- point of wall attachment.

In no scenario, sawtooth hangers can be used for that mass- grouping hanging.

Well, I must be dumb, because I STILL can't figure out how to print this to 4x4 (or anything other than its size, which doesn't fit entirely on the page). So if someone more clever than I can print me a copy of #105 in a 4x4, I would gladly pay postage to 1256 Dual Hwy Hagerstown MD 21740.

FRom the website..."You can provide your own sunshine created in any way possible—just keep it small."

That sounds to me as if it's okay to create our own sun.
I imagine that the images on the website were a way to make it easy on us.

I thought we weren't supposed to send them until October somethingth? But a good reminder, Boris, I forgot all about it!
