I occasionally get some interesting emails from vendors. Most, I have to admit are as innovative in their approach as the really smooth line of "what's a pretty moulding doing in a shack like this?".
Why this caught my interest was we had recently gone to an auction. . . with a twist. The auctioneer would hit a big red plunger.... that would set a random time from 30-120 seconds.... when the bell went off...... that bid was it. A whole lot of fun as the panic ensued. There was no 'laying back to see what everyone else would do...'. Over all, the fund raiser was a huge success and the four charities will be fully funded this next year.
So the reward came with being quick enough to get your bid in . . before the bell.
So here is a known bell (time) to reap a huge discount on the years supply (take delivery when you want.... so after inventory or in the fall.... etc) But it allows them to spread the work into their slow summer schedule.....
I'm wondering how long before we see a couple of other vendors do some kind of adaptation.... buy 5 boxes now.... and stagger delivery over say 10 months..
I know we're going over the catalog now.....
