Hi

This thread talks about an issue similar to yours, and that they're working to resolve it in a future version. I'm sure someone will answer your other questions also.

Wizsteve or Mike will probably be along any minute with an answer.

You said your program locks up, does the computer lock up to? Can you still move the mouse pointer?

Is there any other software running at the same time?

What kind of camera is it?

When you save the project are you saving it under a different name or just clicking ok?

My computer has started going blue screen, the only thing on it is IF, Frameready, and a double monitor, so I feel your pain.

I HAVE A BRAND NEW OUT OF THE BOX XP MACHINE A BRAND NEW CANON S3 AN DUEL FLATSCREEN MONITORS.
THCOMPUTER DOES NOT LOCK UP JUST THE PICTURE WINDOW, AND SOMETIMES IT GIVES AN EROR MESSAGE.

ON THE TOPIC OF YOUR DUEL MONITORS I WANT TO BE ABLE TO TOGGLE FROM DUAL TO SINGLE SO AFTER THE CUSTOMER VIEWS THE PROJECT I CAN RUN LIFESAVER WITHOUT IT SHOWING ON THERE SCREEN??????????

I don't know if you are running Vista or XP. The following function may work on both but I have XP.

I open both my frameready and IF.

I have both running on my screen and when I hit the snapshot viewer button and it comes up, I hit F8 and send it to the big monitor facing the customer. I didn't need any additional software for this, it is built in.

We are also having this lockup(on going)and we have to back out of the progam. Very annoying in front of a customer! It is getting to be very incosistant, maybe after 2 pics maybe after 12 pics you never know when it will happen!!
Not sure if it is IF or LS latest version might lets you toggle If not go to Real time Soft (ultramon.com) we use this to toggle our monitors.

JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH LENNY AT WIZARD (HE CALLED ME) WE TALKED IN DEPTH OF THE PROBLEMS GREAT SUPPORT I TAKE BACK BEFORE SAYING THEY DID NOT CALL BACK. WE ALL GET BACKED UP AT TIMES.

JUST WANTED TO GIVE KUDOS TO WIZARD. THANKS LENNY

My IF does this also. When I first bring it up to take the picture I have to wait until the little hour glass disappears before I go to the zoom. I have also learned that using the zoom bar instead of the little arrows at each end keeps it from freezing up. When it freezes up I just unplug and replug in the camera and start again. I've had my IF for almost a year and a half and didn't have this problem until I installed the latest version.

The zoom problem seems to be a problem with the canon zoom software not actually the I F software. I Installed the latest zoom browser and seems to be more stable. I have not had a lot of time to check it out. I am still having problems with the image overwriting the first image and wiping out my art my first image. If I start a project and go back to that project again and take another picture I lose the original picture. it is replaced by the second picture. The strange thing is that all of the art regions that were selected are still in the same spots only the wrong image is under them and the original image is gone. I am sending a file to lenny @ wizard today so he can look at it.
has any body had this problem? I will let you know what Lenny says

IF Still Freezing-Where's the Patch?

Here we are several months later and still no fix for the zoom problem in IF. Although we really like the product, having the computer and camera freeze unless we are extremely careful to use to zoom function very very slowly is annoying and causes delay for us and the customer.

We use IF a lot, but rebooting in front of the customer is no fun.

Where is the patch for this problem? Is there new software?

Am I the only one still having problems with this?

Aside from that, this product is a perfect adjunct to sales. It helps with decision making, often results in a larger mat sale, and the "Wow" factor is terrific. Great word of mouth publicity potential. But please, can we fix this problem?

We are also STILL having this problem.
I have not talked to tech lately but my partner did last week.
I think it was Carl(not sure) who told her they did find a glitch in the software that might be causing a problem and are working on it.
I hope they solve this soon as we have used up all of there suggestions as to a fix. :fire:
Any one having this problem please go to Wizard International to the forum and let them know. I think there are more of us than they realize. Plus you should get a pretty quick responce.

I had been having the same problem but have found a "work-around" that seems to sovle the freeze up. This is not ideal, and I hope they find a fix, but for the time being here is what I have done.

  • My camera and lights are powered on/off by wall switch.
  • Camera is OFF except when in use. IF is running slide presentation.
So when I have a customer in front of me, before they even know what I am doing with IF, I do the following sequence.
  1. I close IF program
  2. Turn on camera via wall switch
  3. Turn IF back on
With the above sequence I have experienced no freeze ups.
As previously stated this is only a work-around and is still a pain in the butt and hopefully they find a fix for this problem, soon!

We also continue to have this problem. We use it a lot too, but only if the customer is having a problem making a final decision.

We use it whenever we can to enhance the sale. Sometimes the design table is full with other orders, but whenever there is space under the camera, or I can make space, I use it because, if nothing else, the customers are so impressed and have never seen anything like it. Then we usually make the mat small and then larger, and the almost always go for a larger mat than they thought they would.

Caling Wizard today regarding the problem.

I just called today and was told that they are aware of the problem and are working on a fix. The forum has a lot of similar complaints on it, so Wizard is aware, but this has been gong on for a long time and needs attention.

I also ordered the Debosser:smiley: Debossers will ship Mid August.

I deal with this every other day or so... Frustrating... I put it in in November '06... Frustrating... Wizard said they are working on a solution... Frustrating... How long will it take to fix this problem???

Is it true that you might have found a problem in the software?
Kinda hope so as we are out of other solutions!!

07/16/2007 at 12:12 PM We are still working on a solution. When one has been found and tested, it will be announced, and those that have called in to Customer Support will be called about the solution.

Sorry Dani but what office are you running for( just kidding)
Sounds like wizard dropped the ball on this one.
You have been great in the past and I know you will continue to be BUT we need help .We have problems that have been going on for quite a while. We are not mad (yet) just frustrated:help: :help: :help:

I used IF a lot today, and made several sales because of it, but I had to restart the computer twice. This is SO frustrating! Customers are fairly tolerant because they are excited about the process and want to see the preview of thier work, but honestly, this makes the sale more difficult and has gone on long enough. I am going to look into alternate software in the meantime.

Don't take pictures inside IF then the camera functions won't screw up IF.

Open the Canon "camera window"

Choose "Remote Shooting" tab

Click "Starts Remote Shooting"

Confirm that images are saved in "My Pictures"

Canon "Remote Capture Task" will open

Take your pictures in "Remote Capture Task"

- you have more camera control than in IF.
- Canon Zoom Browser opens automatically after you take a picture so you can check your image.
- The images is automatically saved in "My Pictures"

Now switch to IF which is also running and "Open From File" - it's the last image in "My Pictures"

Switch back to "Remote Capture Task" and click your next picture and repeat.

It's only a couple of clicks more than taking pictures in IF and after a couple of practices it's simple.

Working around IF problems can be done to a point however I'm very annoyed that Wizard put this software on the market last year and then basically dropped it and headed off in other directions. Perhaps they are working on IF and it would be nice to have them confirm improvements are coming. There are a lot of problems with this software and it's development should be ongoing. Visualization software is the future of custom framing but it's currently in it's infancy and has a long way to go. Just getting the software to run consistantly would be a good start before facing up to color problems.

Kinda like a new on the market $30,000 car. It looks great BUT it only has 2.5 tires and runs good most of the time But we are working on it
Thanks but maybe it is time to shop elsewhere!!!!

Got a call from Wizzard
They are working on the problem.
They might have a temp solution.
Offered to do a test on our system.
They are sending us a new disc to try.

Bandsaw they are trying to locate you (they don't know who you are or how to reach ya)

Yeah, I appologize to everyone who's experiencing this problem. We have a solution in the works, but as it's a major "under-the-covers" change we can't just rip that fix out of the codebase and release it all on its own. In other words, a fix is definately coming in the next big release. The other side of the coin is that not everyone is getting this lockup (or at least not on a daily basis) and its a very difficult problem to diagnose - some people have just reinstalled older versions of the camera drivers and had the problem go away, while others just upgrading the USB cable is enough.

And I just want to reassure everyone that we certainly HAVE NOT dropped or forgotten about Integrated Framer... there are some really sigificant features coming in the next release (that I'm sure we will be showing in Atlanta), and we here are all really really excited about it. Wizard as a company tends to have less-frequent but bigger feature-packed releases as opposed to trickling out small upgrades.. our plan is to release new versions of all our products about once a year, but sometimes we get in 2 or 3.

So in a nutshell - yes we have a fix coming soon, we will be calling everyone here who has been having this issue, we have a big release coming soon, and we'll hopefully see you in Atlanta!

WizSteve,
Don,t assume those you haven't heard from are not having a similar problem.
I don't have it happen often but it most definitely does happen.
I have also replaced usb cables, drivers, etc. and still have the problem on occasion. I have not contacted Wizard specifically about this issue because I new you already were working on the problem. When a fix is available it should be made available to all of your customers!

Same goes for us, Steve. We would be willing to wait for the full update, verses a patch, if we had a better idea of the expected delivery date. A month of so would be ok, but don't want to wait longer. The main problem is we can't predict when it's going to happen.

We look forward to the enhanced product!

Come on people:sleep:
If you are having any problems with IF please let Steve know.
He is trying to work this out but he needs to hear for everyone to find the cause.
Only a simple , yes I am also having problems will do or any specific probs let him know.
Lets all try to help:help:

Steve, just to be specific, the freeze happens when we zoom too fast. If we take teeny tiny steps to zoom in or out we can usually prevent the problem, but sometimes it just surprises us. We bought a new Canon S1 when we bought IF in January, new USB repeater cable, new Dell computer, etc.

I'll be looking forward to new features as well, because we use the program several times a day. My main request would be an extensive color picker for mats. Sometimes the colors are just not true on the photograh of the mat samples. This is probably our lighting. Oh, and a way to show closed corner frames! And finally it would be nice if we could show Brian's 101 mat designs in the IF program.

Thanks for your help and for the update.

I lost my ability to zoom altogether. When I first set it up and tried out IF, the zoom worked fine. After I went through the calibration procedure, the ability to zoom was gone.

Fortunately, my computer never froze up because of it, so I haven't had an embarrassing moment in front of a customer. But I can't get some of the detail in the moulding, art, etc. that I could if I could zoom.

Zoom, zoom, zoom!

Dougj, Kirstie, & Bandsaw, Did you get an opportunity to test a fix for Wizard? Did it resolve the zoom lockups? Still having them here and we haven't received any calls from Wizard, like WizSteve's post suggests.

Thanks!

No calls, no test, still having sporadic problems as usual. Just last weekend I had my tallest employee standing on the design table, on a step ladder, standing where the customer's had previously placed thier art. Customers standing back while employee turns the camera on and off. This happened twice over the weekend. Not acceptable!

Same thing here....customer standing there waiting on me to reboot is not acceptable. I put in a wall switch to power my camera off and on. We would definitely use it more if it was reliable.

Hello all,

To bring you all up to speed…

All Grumblers that have requested a phone call have been contacted directly, accept for a few folks that I have been unable to speak to and left multiple messages. If I forgot anyone, please free to send me an email or contact me directly at the office. Please remember Wizard Customer Support is here anytime you have questions and you can call us to get the latest information and updates at your convenience. Calling Wizard Customer Support at 888-855-3335 is the best way to get answers fast.

Bandsaw – I have been unable to look-up your account. Please feel free to email me at supportadmin@wizardint.com and I will make sure you are contacted promptly. TGFU – I apologize. I didn’t realize you wanted a call back.

Now to the software issues discussed in this thread; Richard Darling, are you still sans zoom? If so you should recalibrate and see if that fixes the issue. I have seen something similar to this when we calibrated several times trying to break the feature, but this is not a reoccurring problem.

To those with "freezing" problem; first there are a number of potential causes. Have you all downloaded the latest ZoomBrowser Ex from the Canon website?

Don't move the "zoom" button fast back and forth. Kirstie related that she reduce the problem by moving slower. The way we use it here in Customer Support is we set it to the "best" zoom setting for the average art size we use and then zoom a little one direction or the other.

Make sure that you have a clean communication path. We have found that the Cat5 cable with USB adapters work the best. The Cat5 solution helps reduce problems when your cable is over 16 feet. If you have too many additional USB products connected to the computer or are going through a hub this can present a problem. If you are using a USB 1.1 adapter this can also present a problem.

While addressing some of the issues above will reduce the "freezing" problem, we have not seen it go away. Wizard is committed to fixing the problem and continuing to enhance the usability of IF Visualization. The software group is working assiduously to supply a resolution in the coming major release. Stay tuned for update information.

Robert, I have done all the suggestions that you have mentioned in your post. Do you have any idea when we will receive the next release with the resolution? You and Steve say that it will be "soon", but can you give us a better estimated delivery date?

I have to say that since I set up a "work around" I have not had this freeze up problem.

My camera is plugged into an outlet that I can turn on/off at wall switch.

I have my IF running all the time so I can show demo's to browsing customers, when I need to actually use it, I follow the process below.

  1. Turn OFF IF!
  2. Turn Camera on at Wall Switch
  3. Wait for camera program to start and select.
  4. Turn IF back on
With that procedure, I have no freeze up problems. Now that is still a hazzle and not the way it should be but at least I know I will not freeze up in the middle of a presentation. Doing it this way and using zoom doesn't seem to be any problem.

I am however still waiting for the fix.

For those of you that were in Atlanta, did you hear anything new from Wizard regarding the fix for this issue?
