....'cause I just went through half a case of 16x20 glass just to find 3 lites that did not have some sort of %&#*@ defect in it, and the defect never happened to be in a position where it could have been trimmed off.

But now it's beer-thirty and I'm sure I'll be able to #%$&*@ laugh about it tomorrow.

It's gotta be the moon or something way bigger than any of us framers are prepared to deal with!

My transmission went out on my car last Sunday. I made a deal with one of the local repair shops to put a used transmission in it in exchange for my paying for the trannie and doing some framing for the labor involved in switching them. Today the guy calls and tells me that they got the wrong transmission and the right transmission is going to cost me another $350 AND they can't get it in before Monday! And THAT'S just the beginning!

Today I cut a frame for a poster that I measured 3 different times when I wrote the estimate. I joined the frame, mounted the poster, and trimmed it to size. When I went to cut the plexi for it I checked the measurements on the poster and it was 3" smaller than the dimensions I had entered on the workorder! Not a biggie, I pulled the frame apart, chopped another 3" off the long legs, and re-joined it.

My cell phone wouldn't dial out this morning. I called the phone company to find out if there was a problem in the system and found out that I forgot to pay my bill for the past 2 months. My fault. I paid over the phone and got service in about a half hour.

Tomorrow I have a booth to set up at a Senior & Snowbird Expo on the island. I have no station wagon to haul my display panels and all my other stuff to the convention center. I will have to get up tomorrow morning about 5 AM and try to figure out how to tie down 4 panels that are 3' wide and 6' long to the roof of a Mercury Mystique.

My dog threw up in the workroom this afternoon. No problem. Dogs do that.

My LJ order didn't come in this evening so they are running late and will deliver tomorrow morning .................... when I am at the Expo and have my frame shop locked up. I hope the shop next to me is there on time tomorrow.

Other than that, I have had just a kicka** week!!

So don't sit there sucking down that cold beer without giving both Pete and I a toast, Mike. If you do I will never forgive you!!

Well, I am glad it isn't just me, either. We have had several pieces come back with complaints. We have initiated a new Final Check to all the other checks we have. Two of the 'complaints' were plainly the customers carelessness, but we smiled and will fix them. Two of the screwups were ours (should have been non-glare glass and should have been a reverse bevel) But this is usually the number we see back in a YEAR and here it has all happened in a week.....

Ellen,

You should be done for the year. The rest of the year should run quite smoothly. Just think, all your screw-ups were accomplished in just one short week for the entire year.

My complaint!!!!! The store manager was very mad at me yesterday because I happened to come up from my workshop in time to save a sale. This meant that I did suggest something she had not done. Like put a new frame on the piece instead of fixing the damaged and out of date frame. Duh!!! She was ready to let another customer walk ---- I sold them $150.00 of framing. Then she was made at me the rest of the day.

What's a framer to do? I guess I will have to just learn to keep my mouth shut until the shop closes for good and they wonder why!!!

OOHHH YEA?!
The city in its infinite cluelessness put a NO PARKING sign if front of my store front two days ago. The postal carrier walked in laughing and asked 'who I pis*ed off at city hall'. I’ve been round and round with the *ss hole in charge and he said it was his idea and his decsion and he wasn't changing his mind. SOOOO I got hold of the Mayors office and asked them why the city wants to put me out of business. They are investigating.

FGII, Your day sounds like the stuff country-western songs are written about.

I'm a little embarrassed complaining about my problem after reading about everyone elses on this thread. Somehow mine pales in comparison.

I will toast you all with a cold frosty tonight. Things can only get better, right?

...if y'all only knew....

I'm writing this week off. It should have been a vacation week. Brrrrrrrrrrr..........

The few coming in are clueless zombie's. Who else would go out in this cold to buy a picture frame.

Thinking of warm thoughts.

Must be something going around, similar to the flu, but more frustrating. Many screw-ups have been found in my shop as well and I hardly ever make mistakes of great magnitude, except this week.
