The Show Me State
I have a C & H Ovalmaster 550T if anyone wants to make an offer.

I have a Fletcher 5100 that is no longer working, if anyone needs parts or v-nails for this machine, contact me but be quick about it!
I was told that it could be put back into working order if anyone wants to attempt it--you can just have it and give it a go. I've already replaced it.

The estimate on shipping is around 125-140. That's UPS ground. I can pack it up and get it off to you, and I'll be glad to give you all the v-nails to get you started. Let me know!

I won't use the language that my wife "implied" but lets just say that I better not take it and stay happily married for a while longer!

People who are married to packrats probably appreciate her point of view (but you should see all the good stuff I have gotten rid of, Honest!).

Thanks anyway

James

Hi Barb, I also have a fletcher 5100. I really liked it at first but I started having problems with the impactor. I sent it back to the fletcher company and they replaced it the first time, The second time they repaired it. Then I found out that they quit making replacement parts. Mine has been sitting for about 18 months with a faulty impactor head. Is this the problem with yours? If not I'd be interested in the complete impactor , plus the foot pedal assembly and if It works, then I'd use the v-nails. By the way, Did you know that they had a bad run of v-nails, which caused the initial problem in the first place?

I used this machine for years and was happy with the results (I had to keep it very clean; it seemed to dislike even the slightest glue residue).

The shaft on the impactor has snapped in two.
I have no idea if it can be replaced; you might be able to look over yours and decide if it's worth the effort.

Let me know if you want any of the parts or the v-nails.

(BTW--I'm lusting after one of the new Fletcher
underpinners. Very sweet.)

Barb, I bought one of the first 5100's from the philly show years ago. Fletcher has great products, unfortunately the under pinner was not one of them. I havn't seen the new one, but they gave me a bad monetary taste with the old one, and I'll wait and see before I jump in on another. Your impactor seems to have done the same as mine. I had to have the shaft replaced also, and the new one just doesn't work the same. The bad v-nails caused the impactor to jam many , many times. I tore the last one down myself, and getting it back together was a real chore. I had a local machine shop make a new shaft, but it's just doesn't fire the same for some reason. I guess I'll have to pass on your offer. Was kind of hoping I could get mine going again. Sounds like we both have a very expensive piece of junk.

The new Fletcher (made by Pilm) underpinner has all of the features that I liked about the 5100, married with the best features of my vn 2+1.

You should give it a look at the next trade show.
I love the way you can clamp down your moulding,
and it remains stationary as the firing mechanism moves (ala 5100) instead of the moulding moving back and forth.

I, like you, was a little "gun shy" at first. However, the more I have looked at machines, the more I like this one.

As far as an expensive piece of junk--I figure the machine paid for itself in about the first year. So, it actually made money for me, so no real regrets. What have you replaced yours with?
I'll probably sell my vn 2+1 sometime after Christmas and get the new Fletcher. I hope I don't park it in a corner for a couple of years before I get around to moving it on out, but that seems to be the status quo so far....

Hi Barb, I just got back in town. I have been using a thumb-nailer. I am currently in the market for a new machine, and will check the fletcher out. You are right, my machine paid for itself also.......... but it should have lasted longer than it did, and they should still make replacement parts. It makes me sceptical about their new machine.

I understand your skepticism and can't even say that I blame you. That skepticism is the same that kept me from purchasing it shortly after it was introduced. I figured I'd check out the track record before I jump in, (and it really didn't have one yet) so I bought a used vn 2+1 with a good track record.

I'll be selling it in a couple of months--interested?

If I havn't got something else by then, I may be interested. I'm in no hurry, the thumb nailer is working pretty well, but still want an under-pinner also. Send me an e-mail when your ready.
