The Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce invited us to "decorate" their window for the month of January at the last minute. The window is downtown Ship on the main street. We're also downtown on the main street but we're on opposite ends of downtown. This gives us a chance to showcase at the other end of town.

I have several ideas but was wondering if anyone has anything that has worked well for them in the past. We can also share ideas for windows for the next twelve months.

Isn't that on everyone's list ~ changing their windows more often in 2008? ;-)

Maryann,

We had this same opportunity for our library's windows. We went through their files and found old photos of what our Main St. area looked like in the early 1900's. Scanned and cleaned up the scanned photos. We framed them in different sizes and mouldings that coordinated as a grouping. The library allowed us to sell copies of the photos. That was about 8 years ago. We are still selling those photos for decor in doctor's offices and local restaurants. We have since scanned more photos and have done the same thing for the interior of our local chamber of commerce. (our c of c is in an old bank bldg and does not have windows that lend themselves to displays).

Hope this might be of help.

Janet
