Hi,

I have 2 see through ice (frozen water cubes or maybe more accuratly cylinders) bags like freezer bags I guess to frame. Have to be floated as the top has holes the client wants shown.

Best I could figure is to use some stichery tape instead of hinges which is about the width of the top flap with the holes so wouldn't notice it as it would cover the whole back of the flap.

Figured would use perspex (plastic glazing) directly on the bags but someone said recently on here this stuff still sticks like glass. Maybe mylar is the only way to go over the whole package??

 Any ideas?? :help:

Boy you been getting some weird jobs lately, eh Sam?

I would go for Mylar over the whole thing - gonna be shiny anyways - and the Mylar would protect it from sticking to the the perspex.

Well I guess everybody agrees with mylar as there has been only one response. Thanks Mar

Oops re the Mylar

Well. Don't think mylar was best option.

Glass tends to suck onto mylar. Also ripples are formed I guess cause maybe too tight in frame not sure.

Probably better just to put the glass straight on the bag and take the risk of the honey look appearing later. I think it is going to happen quicker with mylar. Has anybody had success with other sorts of glass appart from standard float with use of mylar?

I am surprised none of you advised against the use of mylar or has nobody tried before?

How is this problem solved if glass and Acrylic sticks in time?

You could always try some Invisimount from AttachEZ - it is a frosted inert polywhatever stuff that has a bit of texture to it (think non glare sheet protectors) with enough tooth that it doesn't stick to glossy photos so maybe it wouldn't stick to glass?

Or see what happens with a spacer?

Or - are there any places where you could hide the little tags from the MicroTach tool (also from AttachEZ)?

If you could post a photo of the bags it would be a whole lot easier to make suggestions and Sam, I know you have a camera!

Cant see the problems in the photo but gives you an idea of finished piece.

Sam - I would think that you could approach the thing like a jersey - use either the AttachEZ tool or sewing from the back of the board, thru the back layer of the bag - and then use a spacer so the bag wouldn't risk getting stuck to the glazing.

Fasten in the corners and one or two spots under the writing - it will be invisible and sturdy.
