JPaul said it on another thread.

I enjoy reading and commenting on the Grumble. I also like reading and commenting on the web version of the local paper. The comment section of the paper allows a reader to give a thumbs up or thumbs down to any given comment.

I think that would be a very fine feature to have on the Grumble. Not sure if it's possible.

I've never seen a board where you can do that to individual posts. I've seen star rating systems where you can rate whole threads ie: give this thread 4 out of 5 stars, and the board displays the average.

For this type of software, and I could be very wrong, but I think all that's available is a Facebook "Like" button for a whole thread, which I think would be pretty bad.

But I agree that it would be very, very cool to like a post on the G (nothing to do with facebook).

I can't decide how to retort, so:

Text "pffft" if you think Johnny should respond "Apparently we travel in different circles, my friend. Let me introduce you to the dark side of the internet."

Text "lol@u" if you think Johnny should respond "Shhhhhhhh... If it was implemented I don't think my ego could handle a bad rating."

Or you just could try my simple code.
If I like something, I insult Bill Henry.
If I don't like it, I insult Prospero.

Or was it the other way around?

Maybe try it both ways Shayla, just to cover your bases.

It seams to me that having a LIKE button on the G would further serve to lessen the human contact in the world.

I, for one, am always disappointed when I post something on Facebook and get 23 "Likes" and not one single comment.

I like it when a person takes the time to make a measured response.

Have you ever read a thread that makes you cringe but you don't want to add to the conflict.

Happens to me all the time.

A like or dislike button would be the way to do that.

Or can we get a "BITEME" one..... cuz I would totally wear that one out! ;)

This server (if that's the right word - V bulletin anyway) has loads of bells and whistles that are not used here, thankfully.

I know that because I'm a member of another forum that uses V Bulletin and they use every bell and whistle there is - amongst many other features you can like, dislike or thank for a post.

It's a snoozefest, but wouldn't be so much of one if everyone liking/disliking/thanking, actually made a reply to elaborate, which is what happens here, which seems to work.

It's not broke, so ....................................................

PLEASE spare me a whole buncha framers merely adding 'like' to a post. Or 'dislike' or 'thanks' in an automated way. There is always the PM button.

[Like] or [Dislike] is too absolute.

What about
[Vaguely Interesting] or
[Quite Useful] or
[OK up to a point] or
[What the heck was all that about?] or
[Talking out your ###]
