I've done it again: can't remember which generous G'er it was who mentioned he'd help with computer/software difficulties. I've done something in my POS which needs undoing, my vendor can't help at the moment, and I'm hoping this G'er will volunteer? Pleezzz?

Hi Cathy,

What'd you do?

Who are you using?

Welllll........someone in my immediate family  somehow associated my vendor downloads with my Calendar Creator program. Now when I try to download the new pricing, the latter goes to the Calendar Creator program, and, of course, opens the calendar. I'm using EZFramer by nuTech. The vendor can help, but it's not technically his problem so I hate to bother him yet again. Is there a way to dis -associate my vendor list from the calendar? There's some box that pops up periodically on other programs that says Open This Program With... or something.

I'll call you anytime, day or night, if you can help me fix this danged thing!
I'm afraid to just remove the calendar program for fear I'd kill off the vendors folder.

What operating system are you using: Windows ME, XP, 98, or (heaven forbid) a Mac? Depending on the system I can give you a step-by-step to change the file association. I can even overlook the fact that this should be on the techi forum. ;)

98SE, and please, just move me! I'd be so grateful I'll do clean-up for you. Not windows: I don't do windows. Or floors: don't like that. Or bathrooms. But perhaps something else you could submit.

Do you want to do this by phone or e-mail? Just think: this could be a new sideline for you. The TechGuy or something.

MerpsMom,

We can handle this right here and now. Here is what you need to do to modify a file associaton:

1)In My Computer or Windows Explorer, on the View menu, click Folder Options.
2)Click the File Types tab.
3)Click the file type you want to modify, and then click Edit.
4)Click on the command you want to modify (probably open) and then click edit
5)In Application used to perform action, enter the command that you want to complete this action (this would be your POS command,) and then click OK.

I'll email you with some contact info if any of this doesn't make sense.

Okay, Ron. Tomorrow I'll try this on the offending computer in the shop. Actually, some of what you said is giving me pause, but I'm game. As the wag said, "You can always pay someone to clean up your mess."

And in keeping with our new-found revelatory posture, I'm signing off as...........

Cathie Simmons
(Perhaps soon to be on the phone.)
