Hello,

Other than the ITW/AMP sander and the no name brand from United does any one have other models or companies that carry them.

Also am in the market for a measuring scale/table extension for my chop saw. Phaedra was too much money and am leaning towards the Clearmount table.

Am I overlooking anyone?

What do you think/use?

Jb - you sound like your making out your list for Santa Claus! Better hurry and get it in the mail!!

We have the AMP sander and the Phaedra extenders/scale...love both of them!

Good luck.

The ClearMount is great ....so is Winnie ....the saw is not fancy ... mitre-cuts, only .... but it's the Chevy of saws ... does it simply and well. The mitre-sander is one of the most important pieces of iron in the shop ... couldn't live without it ...

Slip Santa a little rum with his cider, and ya never know .... (it's a b**ch gettin' those things down the chimney, though....)

What or who is Winnie?

I did a search and got 4,000,000 hits for the Pooh.

Learned a lot about honey but very little about what sander he has.

What is a Pooh anyway? Winnie the Pooh...I could understand Poo if he had a bad disposition but he seemes cheery on television.

Sorry, I just frankenthreaded my own thread.

I have been looking into either the Phedra or Clearmount. Other than cost is there a benefit from either???? Where is the best place to order one???????????

Okay so far it has been my Dewalt 12" sliding miter saw and basic measuring. Got pretty good after about 150 frames the last 2 weeks. But I know it would be easier with a scale.

Sorry I can't answer who Winnie is. A small Winnebego???

Just got off the phone with Clearmount and you are all right.

Winnie knows her stuff and had all the answers and sold me just what I wanted.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Now how about a sander.

Besides Julie does anyone have a United sander?

So, ummmm... what particular use is a sander except to straighten out bad cuts ???

If a chopper is correctly aligned, is a sander really necessary? Seems like an extra step. Also, when sanding, how does one keep the length of the opposing legs of the frame the same?

Thanks,

Bill

I agree with Bill, buy a used Morso chopper and keep the blades nice an sharp. I order metals chop so I rarely use my DeWalt for framing. I only use it when I bid a job so low that I have to use it to save money. Until I can afford a CTD double miter saw, metal chops is the life for me. I hate those metal shavings, the noise, and I hate having to switch back and forth with the miter saw.

I order my mouldings by chops, thus I am at the mercy of the company I get my mouldings from...plain and simple. Instead of getting a perfect match with an emory board which takes a lot of time, this is much faster and just gives you an absolutely perfect corner...perfect. I have worked in places where I did chops on mitre saws and Morso choppers, and the blades were well cared for as well as the adjustments...the sander just makes a good corner better and a not so good corner great! Wish I would have had one a long time ago!!!
