I am finalizing my package pricing and need 3 words to describe the different levels plus a forth for everything above these 3 levels.

Good, Better, Best is OK, but what is above Best?

I also like Basic-Better-Best & Gallery but still have the same issue with best.

I have also seen Economy, Elegence & Elite used but am not crazy about those either.

So what would you suggest?

How about Frugal, Standard, Excellent, and Grandeur.

Select, Choice, Prime & A La Carte

Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum

How about:

Basic,
Upgrade
Wow!

I like the Wow. It implies personal validation instead of snobby. Elite is a codeword for expensive for expensive's sake.

Shapoopie.

Sorry, Bob... after Shapoopie, my mind went blank and I couldn't think of anything else. Thanks for taking up the slack!!

I'm hoping you might share with us your delineations of framing levels. I've been struggling far too long making any decisions .

I'm thinking of using Classic I II III and IV The word 'classic' to me, means quality and it just keeps on getting better.

How about..

"Pocket Change"

"Charge It"

and

"Run for the Hills"
:popc:

GO for something fun like Rob suggest, it takes the edge off.

The level above Wow would be:

OMG!

I would try to set the tone with some humor..

I don't like 'basic', doesn't sound good. Don't like 'budget' (who are you to judge that that is budget...sounds patronizing to me)

The good, better, best says it all, but a bit boring.

How about
Very good
Very Very Good
VERY VERY VERY VERY GOOD!!!!

Good
Gooder
Goodest

The more I have thinking about this, I am liking something with a bit of whimsy.

Thanks for the ideas, keep them coming.

Paul, so what tournament is your team playing in?
What bowl game did they play in last year?

I think you got the order wrong my friend. The wolverine selection is what is put in the dumpster out back.

Lowest tier: Buckeye
Middle tier: Boilermaker
Top tier: Wolverine

Boys! Boys! Knock it off or I'm going to turn the car around right now.
;) Rick
Paul, according to your system the extra deluxe would be "Bearcat".

(Maybe we should consult the olive industry where the small olives are called "large", then they go to "jumbo", "Colossal", and "super colossal", or Starbucks, where the small coffee is called a "Tall".)

Classico
Excelente
Primo

I do like the beer, wine, champagne

I am also toying with Roy, Gee, Biv with the samples marked red, green & blue

Tall, Grande, Venti -- something they can all relate too, and it makes them less sensitive to price, because they just shelled out $3 for a coffee.

Yep...

Tall
Grande
Venti
Shapoopie

See how that works??

Rolls right off the tongue.

While I am still looking for the perfect 3 little words I have been working on the layout of the sign.

BasicFramingPackageSign.jpg

The signs will be 36x16 and will hang above the corner samples. The corner samples will have their ends painted green in this case.

Being silly...

In thinking of what they might say...

Hmmm... (or Looks Good) :)
N-igh-ce
Wow!:icon21:
Awesome!

Hey, maybe you could just do it with smilies? :p

Cool Dave. Sharp and clear, nice graphics. I have been meaning to ask for some time. Question for ya; Are you doing your own signs? What do you use to design with? Do you do your own printing as well?

Danny, I do all my own design and printing. The logo was done in Adobe Illustrator. The rest was done in Photoshop.

Dave, Sorry for the frankenthread. The signage you have used in your shop is very nice. I have seen glimpses of it with photo's you have shared. From the logo's on the door and windows to the promotionals and shirts. Nice work.....

I was thinking of a music analogy (since I am also a musician). Something like:

Andante (slow tempo)--Basic Economy
Moderato (medium tempo)--Better, but nothing nothing grand
Allegro (fast tempo)--We're cookin' now
Presto (very fast tempo)--Top of the line!

You might have to explain the concept to non-musicians, but that could act as a good ice breaker to get the conversation going.

Just a thought.

Dave, nice sign, the words should go with it, and since the sign is pretty straightforward, no nonsense the wording should match.

You, though, are the roller coaster guy :) Maybe a tagline with the coasters in mind would work in your shop. Kiddie Coaster, Wooden Coaster, Loop the Loop?

Maybe change basic to "Honest" or some other word that doesn't denote "bottom of the line" or "No Frills" framing.

Good, Better, Best is OK, but what is above Best

BEST IS, by, definition, the best---nothing is better(you took care of that one previously). if it is better that BEST then you BEST isn't! and you scaling is incorrect.

good better, best,------- even better is....1-more than 3 words, 2-unnecessary by definition.

Bill, that is exactly why I don't like best.

What I have been using to make the art for the signs is Basic, Select & Choice. This would leave Prime or Primo for the a la carte offerings that don't fit into the above categories.

Basic, Select, Choice, Prime...

I like Basic and Select, but then going to Choice and Prime sounds like cuts of meat. ;)
How about Grand or Ultimate?
 Rick

or, if you're trying to appeal to the younger crowd, maybe Basic, Cool, Awesome, and "Pimp My Frame".

Rick, how bout Basic, Select, Primo and leave Choice out.

I could also see Basic, Better, Most Excellent & Awsome

I've been thinking about this thread non stop but my thesaurus is exhausted.

The thing to consider, I think, is that with a spiffy chart like you have, Dave, with the prices clearly laid out, you should avoid using words that attempt to "justify" the price, like "elite" or "gallery" (as Michael's does). We have a tendency to try to convey to people how much value they are receiving for the price, but if it's the high end of a chart, people start to mentally downsell themselves. "Well, it's only a poster, I don't a need a "Premium" frame.

I would try to use words that instead convey to the customer, "This is how much you are going to LOVE this option." Tie the price to the emotional impact of the framing choice. In my experience anyway, the sale is closed when the customer emotionally buys into the frame choice. If frame A is $250 but the customer feels meh about it, then Frame B may be $350, but seem like a much better value, because it is tied to pleasure.

If I get this right, this only applies to 60% of you wall... the rest being the "nice stuff".

So how could any of this be ShamWow.....? What would that be saying about that other 40%?

You might subliminally make a suggestion about the context...

Dorm
Kitchen/Bath
Living Room
**Boudoir

The other 40% is Custom

I would not use the term "basic," or any other term that might indicate the customer isn't getting something good. Even if they are spending in the lowest price tier, they have to feel good about their purchase. They have to feel that they are still getting good quality. And they have to feel that they are a valued customer of your business. The term "basic" negates all of that.

Just because it's basic in fact doesn't mean that you have to call it that.

Actually Baer, it will be closer to 80% of my wall. I am OK with even doing 100% at these prices.

As I am looking at the signs, I don't think that the name will make much of an impact at all.

Maybe I should call them Cheap, Cheaper & Cheapest.
