I hate Indian mat designs, which is probably why, only about every 10 years a customer sticks a gun to my head and convinces me that it's in my best interest to fleece them of the $780 it takes.

Top mat is 8-ply
Mid mat is 1/4" kappa block
lower/fillet is 1/8" Kapppa block with a 4-ply rag under mount and 1 ply rag wrap before cloth.
Lineco barrier tape between cloth (6.5 Ph) and art.

Arrow heads are cast polymers and glued down with Frank's Amazing Fabric Adhesive for decoration balance only.

The dream catcher was sewn down with brass threads.

Picture was a cheap $15 poster the guy liked. F.A.C.T.S. was NOT my Co-pilot on this trip and I really didn't give a rip. :D

PS: Wizard said that they couldn't cut these mats and that I would have to cut them by hand. So I did. Boy, that took me back to the 60s.

Baer,

I would hate to see what you LOVE doing!!!

Thats bloody fantastic, sensational!

I love Indian Art, I grew up in the western industry actually my Uncle owns a few Western Stores in Portland & Centralia called Centerville

Well done!

Baer,

You reminded me of my step mother, who was an ecellent cook, but was always pretending she messed up a meal just to get that many more prizes for her cooking. The trick was played in public and payed her big rewards ;)
Sorry, but if you were around and framing back in the 60's, just like our friend JRB was, you can't be caught off the right road anymore. You are that road.

jPaul, total time from when I got off the phone with Wizard till I was laying fabric (all three layers are fabric from Frank's) was about 1 hour.
Fabric took about an hour. Getting a straight answer from Wizard was about 4 hours. We're thinking about getting a CMC, but right now, I can't remember why.

But when I'm in Heaven, it all starts with a little quiet time with a good cup of coffee....

Followed by a little time at the "Wheel" . . .

And finish with a nice meal downstairs with my wife, and two fine gentlemen we have known since our Honeymoon cruise in 1991.

Baer,
Windstar?

Hey Baer.. just out of curiosity, what was the question?

Wally, Of course.

Steve, the person who we use for CMC sent up or I guess called or something about programing the cuts (?). And she was told that it couldn't be done because everything was 8-ply and thicker.

Heck, life just begins at 8-ply. Anyway, it all worked out, I just had to work up my nerve to make the first cut with a utility knife. First time in about 20 years.

I think I saw something, that your new machines now cut not only 8-ply but also from the front now?

Yeah, unfortunately the older Wizard 5k model was on the very edge of being able to cut 8-ply - some users could, and some heard noises that scared the neighbors - so we had to tell everyone no.

So yeah, the new 8k model cuts 8-ply great. The new 5.0 software has the ability to toggle cutting from front or back (and adjusts configs accordingly) and that works with both models.

I was just concerned that they didn't know how program the custom design you had..

..and dang Baer, if you cut those arcs out by hand through 8-ply with a utility knife then I'm impressed.

Steve, It's really not hard, just practice. There was a rep for someone in the late 60s who taught me to cut circles in 1/4" Upsom board.
Its all in the "locked" hand/wrist/arm and cutting from your hips. Sounds weird, but once you see it done, and try it a few times, it makes scense. good thing we don't have to rely on that kind of cutting as much today.

I'll see you guys in Jan at LV. We're thinking about a CMC this year maybe next.

Baer, thanks for sharing the pics! Fabulous is all I can say but it doesn't come close to what I'd like to say.
