So, in the thread about Spray mounting, I had commented that I have a spray mount that came back to me and it is full of bubbles. Then we had all those comments about spary mounting. I am thinking that I have a really big problem here. I heed to get this thing off that foam core!!

Then there is the thread about how bad Unseal is for a person. So, now I have a double dilemma.

I finally faced the the dragon today to see what I could do. I picked up the can of Unseal and started around the edges. HMmmm, the edges came up rather easily. Much easier than anticipated. It took about 45 minutes, but I got that sucker up!

I then put it in the dry mount with heat and all. I figured I might as well (probably the Unseal talking).

I can now put this little piece back together. The customer will never know how hard I worked on her piece. I will probably die 2 minutes sooner than I might have and all is well. It will be worth getting up tomorrow. (big sigh of relief)

Good for you. Wasn't that fun?

Someone brought in a "signed, limited edition" Chicago Bears poster (with some big-name signatures) yesterday that they had purchased at a national sports memorabilia chain - one you'd find in almost any big, regional mall.

It was elaborately matted with a CMC cutout of the Bears logo and a pricey frame. Everything was buckling.

We opened it up to find masking tape and hot glue, a ton a ATG and the signed poster spray-mounted to chipboard.

I doubt it was 77 spray, though. It lifted off easily without solvent.

The customer will never know how hard I worked on her piece.
In these situations, I usually manage to work it into the conversation: "Doesn't it look great? By the way, I ran into a few surprises and spent 43 hours cleaning up the mess inside of this frame."

That's assuming, of course, it wasn't MY mess to begin with.

And this is why I encourage the customer to stick around while I open these things up.

Ron,

Sad to say this was my mess.

I am fairly new to this shop. They don't always have things that I am used to using. In this case, I didn't feel the regular dry mount was appropriate and all I had handy was Spray 77. Customer brought it back for another reason and that is when I noticed the bubbling. I also haven't done much mounting with this spray. All in all this was a lesson learned!!!
