This was how mine went!

The penguin X stitch is laying across a 60" matcutter - the one in the background (Bangkok) done by the same person, is not quite as big but the whole area is stitched.

The work involved in creating cross stitch amazes me!I think I`d end up hanging myself with thw floss after a while...death by boredom.Neat work there...and Jerry is right..I don`t envy your impending stretch job either!Maybe you can talk them into making sofa pillows? L.

I guess what is bothering me the most about this photo, is all those pictures scattered all over that table. Are those all one customers job, or a bunch of customers?

John

There are 18 jobs shown from, I think, 14 customers. The two large X stitches are from one; the two silk embroideries another, (we're sewing on extensions, lacing them and framing them in a wide-ish gold frame with a slip (Liner?) with museum glass between slip and frame) the two NY cityscapes another and two photos (the sunset one and the one it's on top of) another.

The needlepoint (yellow flowers) isn't a frame job - we're making it in to a cushion.

The school photo started as a glass replacement job and ended as a total re-mat/re-frame. Mat was 'orrible, frame was too skinny, the whole thing flexed.

The loose tickets (5 or 6) top right are 'no artwork' jobs taken today in addition to what you see, some of which, like mats only, would normally have been done while-u-wait, but not today!

I'm happy to see those penguines in your store and not mine. Today was very busy. No work was completed and we doubled a typical day here. The past 2 weeks have picked up tremendously since the economy is in the gutter.

John,

I thought I would count how many orders we have so far today and we are at 18 as well, not including a couple we have to reframe that were sold off the wall.

Not bad for a October Saturday in the 70s in Iowa. Hope tomorrow is just as good.

Haven't your customers heard there's a worldwide economic crisis going on? :icon11:
Gorgeous perfect weather here today kept many of my customers on outdoor activities, so I left my assistant in charge this afternoon and drove up to Dayton for an open house at one of my suppliers.
 Rick

Five orders today, three are replacing broken glass, two are real custom framing jobs, with mats and everything. Overall, October sales are the worst I have ever seen.

I went down to the bridge, but the line was too long. Just kidding, things seem like they are working their way back to normal, well sort of, at least people are calling again and coming in.

John

We are quiet, quiet, too, so far this month.

But we are in Salem. As in The Witch City. And it is October. OCTOBER. The tourists are thick as flies and the parking is next to impossible. NEVER, in our new, temporary location have we seen NO parking available in the lot out front. Today, people kept pulling into the two open Handicapped spaces thinking they'd SCORED, only to see them crest-fallinglyed turn around and drive away.

It's Salem's CRAZY season, but no one wants to do "usual" business at this time of year. But we are featuring two top artists who are big in the science fiction and fantasy field for our monthly exhibit and hope to get the tourists in to see the show.

Before October befell us, our sales were GOOD! May it continue on November 1st!

Salem *sigh*

Two orders, but they were good. Overall a good enough reason to get out of bed and go open shop!

Now my Friday, that was something to write home about.

OK, I`m nosy...what Sci Fi/Fantasy artists? i knows a bunch,just curious. L.

I'll lace it on the short side - from each end and tie off in the middle, and pin it on the long side.

I've had a number of long, long cross stitches to frame and always lace them in both directions. Machine sew calico/muslin extensions on so that the lacing distance needs to be only a couple of inches.
These long ones are not to be afraid of. In my experience they are not very different to shorter ones to lace.

OK half ain`t bad...I know Bob,just not as well as you though!Gee,there`s waaayyy more interesting Sci Fi/Fantasy art,and fans here than the Yahoo Sci Fi/Fantasy art group I "belong"to(maybe 20 posts....Boring:sleep:)! L.

Luddite,

Look around. There are WAY more interesting groups for SF discussion than on Yahoo! Though I belong to many, many different Yahoo groups.

Let me tell you about the Artlist...
