I have a customer who recieved two loaves of bread from France, which were decorated with storks and baby names to celebrate the birth of her two children. She wants to frame these, and I'm not so sure it would be wise to mount them, partially because I can't come up with a way to mount them without distroying them! Here are some details about the loaves:
Each one is about 10" in diamater, with a height of about 4 inches (obviously, if we frame these, I'll be using a shadow box). They have been dried so they are rock hard, and varnished by the customer. I'd guess they weigh at least 3 lbs. each.

My inclination is to tell her to do something else with these, but any input you all may have would be greatly appreciated!

I have a loaf of bread. rolls, and blown eggshells with wheat in my kitchen. I mounted them by using bridal veil tulle from the fabric store, wrapped around, and passed through slits in the matboard, securely fastened on the back side. I picked a beige tulle and it hardly shows. Been there since the late 70's, so it lasts pretty well.

Jim Miller is the master of mounting with a variety of materials. Check out his posts.

Yes, I know that it is time to change my kitchen decor.
