I purchased a Duetto the other day from United. The points
for the Duetto are about half or less the cost of Fletcher points. </font></p>

I was thinking that they are so similar there must be a way to modify the Fletcher Framemaster to accept the cheaper points.

This is what I came up with.</font></div>

<p align="left" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0">
I first removedand opened themagazine from the tool, then I ground down the two ridges to make the slot smooth on both sides</font></p>

<p align="left" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0">
I started with a file.. that took too long so I pulled out the bench grinder and ground down the two ridges.</font></div>

<p align="left" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0">
<span class="470581119-16092005"></font>

</p>
<p align="left" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0"></div>
<div>
<p align="left" style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0">
Now both my Fletcher Framemaster's will accept Duetto points both hard and flexible and also Fletcher points.</font></div>

Hope this is useful.</div>

Cooooooool!
:cool: Rick

P.S.: Somebody at Fletcher-Terry is saying, "D'Oh!" right about now.

P.P.S. Tune in next week to see how I modified a Tombow stainless steel rollerball pen to take Parker ballpoint refills.

Why did you have this much time on your hands...and is this really worth the savings? We always say time is money...how much of each did you take up inorder to do this?

Sorry if I am a killjoy, if I had a free moment I might do this. Of course someone would have thought of it first.

It only took me about 10 minutes or less with the bench grinder, with a 50+% savings on points, you do the math. I guess it is not worth it to everyone. It took me longer to post this topic than it did to do the mod.

Like you said Patrick "time is money", in the future I will save time by not posting it on the Grumble.

Some people appreciate your posts, snafu.
I am sure many people will save money thru your suggestion.

I purchased the duetto manual and the pneumatic, and love them both.

If someone can save money in these hard times, they certainly ought to.

I just made this modification to both of my FrameMasters, and it took me 15 min to do both of them. This Rocks, I was excited to see the price on the duetos, but didn't really want to buy another gun , now I don't have to.

I think its one of the best posts I have seen on here in a while! I am going to do it. One correction to some of the other posts. Time IS NOT money. Ken

I'm sorry.........but don't you have any respect for patented products? If you think the Duetto points are that great, then why don't you show some respect and use their driver?

How do you feel about customers bringing their glass into your shop and asking you to frame a picture because your glass prices are too high?

What is your integrity worth? The cost of a dozen framer's points per picture is what? Human nature amazes each and every day.

John

Ok I am not that smart as I said, and I don't think it would take me anything like 15 minutes...more like hours. I knew that sounded much snottier than I was thinking. I did not mean to upset, I was just saying I am not a wiz at stuff like that.
