Newbie here and have a question about hand wrapping a mat. I have a 24 x 48 framem which is larger than my mat board. i would like to add a mat around the edges and cover it with a croc embossed gift wrap paper that i have. Any ideas or suggestions as to how to do it and make it look good would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

You could splice it before you wrap it. Chances are you will have problems keeping it together and also your seams most likely will show through your gift wrap paper. Best advice, as you have already been given, is to buy a larger sheet of mat board. Then the question becomes, are you able to cut your window opening? If not have a local independent frame shop cut the mat and you can still wrap it with your gift paper.

if it's larger that 40x60, use a sheet of 48x96 foam. if you have a straight line cutter, you can take the cutting are off the base, and slide it to cut whatever size you need. Then wrap. you don't really want to splice something like this, if you're using gift wrapping to cover it

You might want to order Baer Charlton's DVD on fabric wrapped mats. Good info and well worth the small investment.
