Well, it's on that internets thing, it must be true. :icon11:

Or you could take it to someone who knows what they are doing and get the same thing....except that it would actually look nice.

There was probably a time in our lives, before we became picture framers, where we might have found this helpful. Let's not forget that she was aiming her "class", not at professional picture framers, but at people much like herself, the average young housewife, with a very limited budget.

Sadly, our industry is not aimed at this group, as few can afford us. This is an option for them, and also the first step toward appreciating matted, framed pictures. It is more like an incubator for our future customers.

With that in mind, let us be frugal with out criticisms.

Forget about T-Hinges, Z-Hinges are the way to go. Good to know that Scotch tape meets her acid free standards. I also love how she snaps that glass through the top of the flimsy plastic frame. I hope nobody buys one made of metal and tries that or it could make for a nice lawsuit.

I sure wish I would have learned how to do that a long time ago - it would have saved me many hours of time and lots of money, I wouldn't have had to buy all of the equipment and accessories that I have bought - oh well, live an learn. :vomit::cry:

OMG!

I love all the tape she is using for hinging - where did she pick that up?

And how she mentioned to use cardboard as a cutting surface and then here she is cutting right on her formica! LOL.

I sure hope she is incubating new custom framing customers - she ain't doing much else!

Wow, that was special... Every step of her demo made me cringe. That website should come with a disclaimer: "Not responsible for professionals who develop nervous tics after watching amateurs' demos."

Let's do a video on performing and appendectomy, shall we?

I have a knife, needle, thread, and some peroxide. Get Your Camera....

at least she hinged it instead of taping the whole perimeter down

All the money she saved on home framing will go to getting that new butcher block counter top she's gonna need when she is done :)

The comments are great Paul! "who gives them the right to charge $700 for 45 minutes work?!" After having an exposed nerve I would say I give them the right :) $700 is cheap....

Root canal work isn't that bad, so if you need it done then do it. Or rather let someone else do it for you :)

OK it's all wrong.

There is a possible solution. Anybody here going to step up as a custom framing, "guide" on About.com?

Though the market may be small in some ways, I think it's maybe more of an issue of ignorance than cost. If we can educate them they will then know they need a pro not a scratched butcherblock.
