How would you cut a rectangle from one corner out of a lite of glass? See attachment (if it uploads correctly).

I wouldn't, plex is a better choice for this project.

Round the inside of the corners of the frame it is going into. Taking the sharp edges out of the inside make it doable.

There is also a water jet that can cut it but I bet it will be hard to locate a provider and/or be very expensive to do just one.

Drill a hole (small diameter glass bit ) in the corner then cut in to the hole....

or as Jeff said cut small diameter rounded corner.

You can use a wet stone to take some of the curve out of the corner.

High risk probably no profit return

Have plenty of glass to practice on...

If you are going to use a hand held glass cutter, then as you score one line you keep scoring a small curve in the corner and on out the end of the glass. Repeat with each step.

Start at the bottom of the image shown and then move up to the next step and then the last step.

Also round off the edge of the frame in those corners as well.

Just use acrylic.
Yep, plexi and a table saw. The suggestion of rounding the glass corners and trimming the inside of the rabbet is a good idea, but plexi would be the only way I'd attempt this. Why this shape? Is the frame the same shape? Why not rectangular and extra mat and add a few more openings and photos?

It can be done as you want to be able to do it, but the question in my mind is should it be done? looks stressful on the glass when in the frame and looks like a broken glass waiting to happen...

Post pictures when done :) Don't let us nay sayers dissuade you, (let reason and logic do that) :)

Even if you did manage to cut it, there would always be a weak point. One slight shock and the glass would crack from the internal corner. Knew an artist who did all his frames with indented corners and they all cracked eventually....

If the frame was wide enough, I would cut the glass in a straight diagonal and rout out the rabbet.

Curiosity is getting me. Why that shape? Are you making the frame to fit an architectural piece? Is there some compelling reason for the shape? Or is this an IwannaseeifIcandoit project? If it is to accomodate three different size photos then I would resort to the tried and true CMHITM technique. Or as it could be called the "cut multiple holes in the mat" method.

BTW the pic is tiny. Is it 23" by 17 3/4" and 13 3/4" on the bottom? With a wide enough molding you could cut it as a triangle as suggested and route out the back of the moulding to accommodate.

Acrylic may appear to be the answer......

but if you don't sand and polish out all of the cuts
in the corner, you may find one day that the
cut you didn't polish out ran on you...... enough
that you had to replace the entire 4'x6' sheet....

don't ask.

if those cuts are going under a lip, cut it with a tight
round, and also trim the inside corners of the frame.

don't forget to use your pumice speed stick on all of
the edges. Glass is the way to go.
