Are you hating your ATG dispenser (gun) these days? Do you lose more tape than you lay down? Do you feel like throwing it across the room?

This is how I solved this age-old problem: goopy guns!

The nylon cog-wheels were clearly clogged with old blackened adhesive. But how to take it apart? I needed to see what was underneath the wheels.

The yellow dispenser (which I hate) is held together with screws, my dear old red gun was held together with little silver metal things. Could they be screws, too? Yes! I grasped the little sticking up part with slip-joint pliers and voila! They unscrewed!!!

So all I had to do then was, soak, swab and brush (with an old toothbrush) the goop away, using Goo Gone.

Now it is running like brand new! No more wasted tape! Yay!!!

I found the trick is to clean it with heptane EVERY time a new tape is loaded. i.e. NEVER let adhesive accumulate

Yes, Edie - that is your baby - I send happy thoughts your way every time I use her!

Oh great!! All these years I thought that ATG guns were "HE'S" not "SHE'S"!! Ya know, ............ Alvin, Theodore, and ........... Goofy!! Now I find out that I have misnamed all of my guns, they should have been called ............. Alice, Thelma, and ............................ Gertie!!

Thanks alot Mar .................................. :kaffeetrinker_2:

Can I just send all mine to you and you do it for me??? :D :D :D

Who would have ever guessed that those things that don't look in any way, shape or form like screws were actually screws???

And why did I not figure this out years ago???

i think part of the problem is that the adhesive side of the tape will 'switch sides' every once in a while, and you have to stop and take it apart, and why can't 3M correct this problem. I have asked severl distributors about it, and they both blamed me.
