How often do you empty your saw?

How often for your dust collection system?

Do you have a schedule?

Or do it just as and when?

Not as often as I should. Its one of those job that I continue to put off. Deffinetly someting I can improve on in my shop.

I usually empty the saw when I change the blades, about every 4 weeks. Dust collection has never been emptied, but it's not even close to full.

Every time I go by the dust collector, I look at it and know I have to empty it and put a new bag on it but it is almost half full and I'm sure it probably weighs a couple of hundred pounds by now. If I move alot of piles of "stuff", I can wheel the whole thing outside and then blow it clean.
I think I will wait till it is a Sunday or an evening when no one else is around and then drag the bag out into the field behind the store and dump the dust there as I doubt I can lift it into the dumpster. Even the box I have to catch the cutoffs is over flowing. I'm not in the mood for spring cleaning, I guess.

I wait until it overflows and have to dig around to find the saw

I clean around the saw and the top areas of the saw when I change the blades, which is every month or two. The cleaning of the inside of the saw and the dust collector is my husbands job. He comes in the shop on a quarterly basis and takes care of all that stuff for me. I always find it amazing how much saw dust and moulding chunks are in there after that period of time. I always hated doing it so now that he takes care of all that... I guess I'm just spoiled in that department.

Paul! What do you have for dust collection that it's never needed to be emptied?!!!

We empty our chopper drawers every day, unless they start overflowing during the day - that means we're busy :)

Our dust collection gets emptied when it's full. The guys that come get the trailer don't like it when they drive over an hour and it's only 3/4 full. We check it two weeks after it's been replaced, and then every two days until it needs to be emptied tomorrow.

I have to empty the fall out box at least once a week sometimes once a day if busy, I clean out the saw and empty dust collector when I change blades every 1-3 months.

I used to only empty the dust collector once or twice a year, because it never gets full, but even just 6" of dust in the bottom means reduced vaccum power, so I try and empty it more often

I vent everything into the kitchen of the restaurant next door.

Emptied my dust collector for the first time last month, after about 10 months of use. I should empty it more often, and clean the bags some, so that they do a proper job of filtering.

I empty my saw about every second time I change the blades, i.e. about every 6 weeks. I ought to do it every time I change the blades, as it needs it.

OK, you folks guilted me into doing it. The dust was about a foot deep in the bag. The hard part is getting that bag back on the dust collector, it keeps trying to slip off before I can tighten the clamp.
