I see many people that have added WEBSITE or BEST FRAME SHOP IN ?>::!@L:@ in their signature space on here and it comes up as a hyperlink to their site.

How do you do this?

LeighAnn - it is through the power of the little globe symbol that you see above the Reply message box.

I have never used it but let's see how it works.....

typed word

That should take you to my website :)

OK, cool - I just tried it and it does work!!! Plus - it opens in a new page so you don't lose the Grumble or have to use your back button.

How I did it:

I wrote "typed word" then hilighted it and clicked on the globe and then typed in my web address.

Easy peasy!!!

The same globe icon appears if you go into "User CP" and select "edit signature"

I can't find he globe on my "edit signature" page. I have looked ALL over the page. I know how to attach hyperlinks... I've done it a lot in emails and blogs. But for the life of me I can't find it when I am replying to a post like now.... or when editing my signature.

Where exactly is it on the page for edit signature... I am using firefox, could that be a problem?

At the bottom of the page under "posting rules" my HTML code is OFF. but everything else is ON

?*#&*#&$(*&#OU

.

LeighAnn:

Firefox is not the problem (I use it).

Under CP / select Edit Options. Scroll all way down to the bottom, Misc Options / Message Editor Interface select WYSYWIG.

This will enable you to see ALL formatting options (including what Mar mentioned).

LeighAnn:

Why not spell out the full name of your website instead? It's better.

See below....:)

I was wondering about that, but I didn't want someone that was googling my business name come up with threads from the grumble. So I kept the name out of my signature line. Does that make sense? and is that correct?

LeighAnn,

On the "search ranking experiment" thread, someone ( I believe John RanesII or possible Mike L ) made the comment that posting a hyperlink such as Award Winning Custom Picture Framing Toledo Ohio was a very strong link. In that (in this case) my actual website is down one layer and not available for viewing when the thread might be sited on the web, but that the search bots could still find the link, as well as those strong key words.

I think that was the gist of it, but I couldn't find it without reading the whole thread again. :D and if nothing else it was a sneaky way of getting my website posted in response to your comment.
