I have a job to do for my building with elevators. Seems they have Metal elevator sign holders -8 1/2 x 11 (clarke metal) and the way they put announcements in them is to leave the top rail unsecured as they take it off to insert new messages. Of course the lower realm of life keeps stealing the tops and they are left without tops. So I heard about hinged tops for metal frames. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks in advance.

E-Z Hinges from Designer Moulding are what you are looking for.

Found Source for Metal EZ Hinge

Thanks Tim, but i was lucky to find an old post to the grumbler. I'm not sure Designer still carries them, I couldn't find it on their web site. The earlier post led me to: http://www.framingsupplies.com/RetailStore.html
Thanks

The problem with the Designer spring loaded corner hardware is that the frame must be OFF the wall so that the top can be raised up and hinged back to get the art out.
If you just raise the top frame leg, it will not allow you to get the art out.
It won't work for your situation.

I think a better solution is the lockable, hinged frame that you see in most elevators that are designed just for this situation.

Or.... we just happen to make a slick security hanger system for metal frames that will work perfectly but your customer will hate it. See them at our web site at www.frametek.com They're called FrameSecure.
