My e-mail is hung up on my dell laptop...everything I click on in e-mail just gives me a ping sound and nothing moves or happens...everything else works on all the other programs...?????

Have you tried rebooting your system? I have seen cases where my computer runs out of resources and can't even display an error message. In those cases, I get the same behavior, just a bing and no action. Closing the offending program(s) or rebooting has always worked in that case.
