I bought an Olympic hockey Jersey (wining team Canada) White and red to make up a sample for my windows. It was framed in a 32by40by 3inches deep.frame, double mat with fillet. First person that saw my sample says `Nice, but the sleeves are wrinkled` I opened up the frame took the shirt off its mounting and washed it. No change to the fold marks on the sleeves (from the original packing) Any ideas how torelax this polyester fibre... My mounting method is to make a form with light batting insert into shirt and then stretch around and pin from behind. The sleeves are then tack stitched to the body of the shirt.
I`m almost ready to give up... too much trouble to be perfect.

One of those little hand steamers might work.

I also had one that was quite wrinkled, I folded it as desired and put it in my heat press, I think around 150 for a minute or two, came out perfect. Kind of the same idea that the cleaners use with their commercial press for ironing.

One of the following, or maybe both:
  • Take it to your friendly dry cleaner and have them press it professionally
  • Use a former inside the sleeves to apply tension.

Thanks, I did try ironing it. nothing changed. I will try my heat press and then the cleaners that have forms for the arms. I also considered buying a steamer but didn't want to spend the money,
Also a friend suggested ironing with a solution of water and vinegar?

What brand?

Is it one of the Reebok Edge series?
If so, is it one of the replicas or one of the authentics?

I don't know about the vinegar but I usually steam things using a dry iron (no water inside) but to create the steam, I spritz filtered water on a blue shop towel or clean t-shirt until damp and lay that over the wrinkled area. Apply the iron and press as usual until the moisture is gone, repeating if necessary (it usually only takes one or two applications. The heat from the iron drives the steam into the fabric without the risk of burnishing it (and minimizes the risk of certain fibers melting and sticking to the iron). It also works great for needlepoint.

might do with it what happens to blu jeans after the 1st 50-100 washings???? they get VERY relaxed!
then iron it and see.

thanks all for your suggestions. I remounted the offending jersey and had reasonable success getting the fold marks out, using the steam/iron thru a cloth method. not perfect, but hey you can't really tell through the window.
yes, shoulda bought the mittens.

Hey, at least you got the jersey. By the time I got around to Zellers not only were the mittens sold out but the entire Olympic display was gone.

Procrastination is a terrible affliction.
