Hello Everyone,
My name is Jeff. My wife Donna and I have a frame shop in Alabama and would like to take a moment to stop procrastinating and say hello to all you good folks in this forum. It’s really good to meet the people of the trade and to be able to learn and share ideas. We have been lurking for a while and have really appreciated the experienced knowledge, advice, and of course the humor of Warped.
Our shop is a small one. At times it’s a gathering place for our customers to just come in and have a cup of coffee and say hello. We have made many friends in the past fifteen years while framing the needs of the people in our small town. However, clientele from a 50-mile radius supports our business. The beautiful mountain-lakes area brings people from the surrounding cities to relax and retire. We only pray that they bring their friends that have more money. Hehehe :D Slap! Ok, Donna says to be nice.
Four people work at our shop. Donna pretty much handles all the customers’ needs in designing of the framing, purchasing, and art sales. The customers pretty much won’t let anyone else wait on them. This makes for a nice long day for her, as she has to produce what she takes in. If she isn’t working while everyone else is having coffee she needs to be. Everyone’s favorite quote to her is, “Donna, are you caught up yet?”
My job is more moral support and funding of the frame shop goodies. I have to admit that the hardest part of my job is dealing with Donna after a hard day at the design table. Slap! Ok, it’s not the hardest part. I have her to thank for seventeen years of marriage and two beautiful daughters. All of whom I am very proud. ;)

Hope you all have a safe and peaceful Memorial Day. God Bless all you grumblers that have served our great country in rememberance of those who did not come home to us.

Jeff and Donna

Welcome, Jeff. And Donna, if you get a little break sometime, welcome to you, too.

Personally, I don't care for the term "lurker," though I have never been accused of being one. I think "one who observes from a safe distance before entering the fray" sounds much nicer.

Here's a quick primer to make your time on The Grumble more peaceful and productive:

</font>
  1. Capitalize "Southern." There is a large contingency from North Carolina that seems to feel strongly about this. </font>
  2. Don't suggest to JRB that he "chill-out." </font>
  3. If you have any issues with bartenders, keep 'em to yourself. </font>
  4. Make liberal use of the "archives" which, as near as I can figure, is a euphemism for the "search button." </font>
  5. Check out the other forums, especially the tech forum where the sum of all the world's knowledge is stored. </font>
  6. If you really getted hooked on The Grumble, set aside a few minutes each day to frame, sleep and eat, or at least consume large quantities of water (glug glug.) </font>
  7. If you're going to be absent for more than a few hours, let us know ahead of time so we don't worry and call the authorities. </font>
  8. Do not mention the PPFA or Larson-Juhl unles you have a great deal of time on your hands. </font>
  9. If you don't care for dogs, try and pretend that you do. You could even invent an imaginary pet named "Rex" or "Snuffy." </font>

Here's a couple more I forgot about:

Be politically correct at all times. If you forget, there are a couple of chicks on this forum that get really bent outta shape.

Try and mention Canada from time-to-time, even if it's just in reference to ginger ale or pizza toppings.

Fear not the <u>Frankenthread.</U> They are an inevitable part of Grumble life.

Click on <u>links </U> at your own risk.

Welcome Jeff and Donna. Thank you for introducing yourselves.

I think Ron has covered most of the essential points except to mention Grumbler status. There has been some speculation that it relates to the number of your posts but really, it has more to do with knowing the names of all the other Grumblers' spouses, children and pets.

I hope you enjoy your time here.

Kit

G'day from The Land of Oz, Jeff & Donna.

Donna, your job description sounds pretty much like mine. Dealing with the customers, doing the work, cleaning up, ordering stock, etc, etc.

I'm always worn out at the end of the day too!

Welcome. Jeff & Donna, you seem like good folks who will be an asset to the forum, thanks for introducing yourself, I wish more would.
Don't worry about my over-reactive respnse to "chill out", or anything else for that matter, after all, your there, I'm here, who cares?

John

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Ron: I appreciate the advice. In sitting at our safe distance, we have witnessed pretty much all of the above precautions.

JRB: Thanks for your kind welcome. We definitely would not ever tell you to chill out, we will leave that to Audrey. ;) HeHeHe :D (No pun intended whatsoevahhh)

Buddy: We are about an hour from Birmingham. Its good to know we have some of your people here.

I hope that we can be an asset to the “G”, because you guys definitely are an asset to us.

We promise to always be graceful when we stick our feet in our mouths.

Welcome, indeed, from one Southerner to another. Glad to have y'all, stop by anytime!! If you need anything in NC, let me know!
